I'm learning some interesting German words, some more useful than others – I shall probably use schätzen (to estimate) more often than Hanf (hemp) or Hopfen (hops), although you never know.
The word herumschnüffeln (to snoop around) is wonderful and I'd love the chance to use it! 1/2

We still have to carry on while the world burns. We can all do whatever we can (marching, writing letters, voting, whatever) but the rest of the time we have to live!

The trans support badge/pin I ordered came today and it's so cute I had to put it on my coat straight away. It was beautifully packed, together with an extra back for it, and two stickers. I'm very pleased.

What do you need me to do? I am cis and also appalled and I'd like to know what the best things are that I can do.

I hate booking holidays. I always worry something will go wrong and September is a long time away.

We have just booked a week at Center Parcs near Hamburg in September, in the cottage next to our son and his family. Now all we have to do is book flights, a hire car, and possibly other accomodation if flights don't match the dates.

Which magazine has it as Great Value and that it's two main drawbacks are apparently not to fit breadmaker slices (we don't have a breadmaker) and a crumb tray that is merely average! For just under £30 quid, I'll take that.

Today we got a new toaster, because our old one, our very old one, had started toasting more and more unevenly.
Our last one was a Kenwood, very cheap, and lasted ages. Our new one is Cookworks and we got it from Asda. 1/2

I've just watched the last episode of The Good Place. Oh my word, what a wonderful ending.

I did need my tissues though.

I was given an orchid as a present several years ago and much to my surprise it has continued to flower twice a year! I repot it with clean bark after flowering and remove bad roots, and then I just spray it every day. Oh and I use a ready-mixed feed spray when I think of it. I googled orchid care.

The ducks and geese were happy to see us today, after we got a delivery of the best duck and swan food!

My second shingles vaccine was on Tuesday and I thought I'd got away pretty much without side effects.
Today (Thursday) my arm is sore with a red patch and I feel like all the energy has been sucked out of me.
Still worth it though.

I used to like springboard diving when I was in my forties. You leap into the air, do a yoga pose (pike or tuck) and then splash! You're in cold water and the adrenaline is flooding you.
I never got the hang of actual yoga.

Today my cycle ride was just 2.75 miles. It was cold but exhilarating! I love exercise where there is a lot of movement – you pedal and as a result the world rushes past. Well, I say rushes, it's more like "moves past at a steady 6 - 8mph", but still.

I'm shocked and appalled. I didn't think he could do anything else to shock me by now but he has. I can't think of words that are bad enough to call him.

It's great to see some sunshine, and I can cope with 1℃ better than with dark clouds and rain.
I managed 3.6 miles on my bike today, which for me at the moment is good. It was lovely cycling through a park and along quiet roads and paths. No photos because I was keeping my gloves on!

I'd pretty much forgotten about The Old Reader as a way of keeping up with blogs. I'm dusting it off, though, and if I'm following you and you start blogging, I'll try adding your blog and see where it goes from there.

I don't follow people who mostly post memes, politics, or repost other people's posts. I like original content, especially from teachers and parents and authors and yarn crafters and cat owners, but anything original is good.
I love reading funny things kids say!
