Great episode! The amount of renewable energy in Texas has always baffled me because of the state's politics. This episode helped me understand the dynamics better. Thanks!

30.04.2025 15:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I love that there are organizations like this helping tell these vital climate stories. While many great sci-fi stories still convey important messages, itβs time for more grounded ones. Check out the THR article to learn more:
3/3
The Greyβs Anatomy writers had some help portraying this storyline. According to THR, Green Screen helped them ensure the story was βevidence-based and grounded in science.β Green Screen does this for other productions, too! 2/3
24.04.2025 20:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Climate storytelling isnβt easy. Greyβs Anatomy hasnβt shied away from important issues, including climate change. The mid-season finale tackled a heat dome. It may not have even felt like a climate story to many viewers, given that the intensity was right up the medical dramaβs alley. 1/3
24.04.2025 20:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm not saying every celebrity brand is like this. Shout out to Stella McCartney and Miranda Kerr for their brands scoring 4/5 (Good) on Good on Youβs ratings system. While youβre checking out your favorite brandβs ratings, check out their fabulous content. Itβs one of my go-to sites.
24.04.2025 15:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Supply chains are complex. However, celebrities have a platform to influence their fans. Given the industry's detrimental impact on the environment, if they want to start their own brand, they should educate themselves on the issues the industry faces to become sustainable.
24.04.2025 15:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I love that THR is highlighting Good on You. Itβs a company that gives brands ratings based on labor, environmental, and animal welfare practices. THR's sustainability issue highlighted how few of the celebrity brands are sustainable. Much of it has to do with their lack of transparency.
24.04.2025 15:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sustainability on and off screen. I love to see it!
Ransom Canyon is Netflixβs first production to be powered entirely by solar and batteries. Netflix is a major player, so if itβs adopting renewable energy sources, itβs only a matter of time before others will too.
Itβs my hope that we can reach this monumental moment in real life. In the meantime, The Day After Tomorrow can still provide a vital message.
23.04.2025 15:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also love how the Vice President, promoted to President, says, "For years, we operated under the belief that we could continue consuming our planet's natural resources, without consequence. We were wrong. I was wrong."
The scene gives me chills.
I recently rewatched The Day After Tomorrow, and it hits harder today than it did in 2004. More people are being displaced by climate change today, and while itβs not on the same scale as the film, it feels more relatable now than it did then.
23.04.2025 15:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As a former entertainment editor currently working in sustainability, that warms my heart. Iβve always felt that The Day After Tomorrow held an important message, even though it was exaggerated.
23.04.2025 15:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I love that The Day After Tomorrow is still in the conversation today. In an article in The Hollywood Reporterβs sustainability issue, the filmβs producer reflected on how the blockbuster introduced people to climate change.
23.04.2025 15:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβm so excited to dig into The Hollywood Reporterβs Sustainability issue!
22.04.2025 15:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Shout out to Ecofixr & Filmscape Chicago for their sustainability work in the Chicago film industry. LED light, no single-use plastics, and donating food. It's not easy to get started, but it can be done. Check out what they've been doing:

π Another substack I love is Amy Odell's Back Row. Itβs a little for fun, and a little for fashion commentary, given Iβm in the sustainable fashion space.
What are you reading?
β»οΈ For sustainable fashion, I love the Sustainable Fashion Forum on Substack, by Brittany Sierra. She does a roundup of all the sustainable fashion news from the week, provides job listings, and hosts Live Substacks with sustainable fashion professionals.
18.04.2025 20:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π¬ With my work in entertainment, I look to The Hollywood Reporter, particularly its Today in Entertainment newsletter. Itβs a one-stop source for all things entertainment news. Itβs so thorough, you really donβt need to look anywhere else. I also check out its sustainability page frequently.
18.04.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0But I also love its podcasts β the @politicsweeklyuk.bsky.social and @todayinfocus.bsky.social. With my impending move to the UK, the Politics Weekly UK podcast has been a valuable tool for learning about the political landscape there.
18.04.2025 20:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π @theguardian.com is where I look for my world news. Additionally, it covers American news with a very different outlook from American news outlets. Itβs great to see it from a different perspective and often with more balanced coverage.
18.04.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π° Iβve been a subscriber to @nytimes.com for years. It always felt like my contribution to journalism. Currently, Iβm loving the Ezra Klein podcast. He constantly has thought-provoking conversations. Itβs excellent food for the brain.
18.04.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I dreamed of being a journalist when I was 13, and after working in this field, it looks completely different from what I imagined it would be when I was young. While the industry has changed significantly, good journalism is still out there. Hereβs what Iβm reading:

18.04.2025 15:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The news cycle is insane, so I love getting great mental health advice. ThredUp's Danielle Vermeer shared what she does on Sustainable Fashion Forum's Live Substack: try to unplug, read a Substack, and a physical book.
There certainly isn't anything like reading a physical book!
I highly recommend Heatmap News for helping us understand climate politics at the moment.
17.04.2025 21:15 β π 7 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0The optimistic view is that the bill will be on Trumpβs desk by Memorial Day, but the more realistic view is that a vote will not come until before the August recess.
17.04.2025 21:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The first draft of the reconciliation bill wonβt even be released until May. This is when we will see what is at risk in the IRA. Then, there will be back-and-forth between the House and the Senate.
17.04.2025 21:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Iβve been a @heatmap.news reader for a while, but recently became a subscriber and checked out its subscriber Livestream. This month, the focus was on the future of the IRA. Its reporter, @emilypont.bsky.social, gave some great advice to keep you sane while we wait: βHave a sense of the timeline.β
17.04.2025 21:15 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0The Los Angeles wildfires took an extraordinary financial and emotional toll on millions of people in Southern California, a new survey found. More than 40% of the adults surveyed said they knew someone who had been personally affected by the wildfires.
