We put in Lexington Reservoir as the winds rose. It was fun paddling upwind and I felt strong. Three miles later--winds now at our back--it was mindfully quiet. You could spot occasional fish jumping, marvel at seabirds dinner-diving, and savor the intermittent scent of eucalyptus trees.

Tired of being told the things I care about are just a distraction, while the things someone else cares about are where I should be directing my attention.

Hated to miss No Kings Day, but you have to make camping reservations pretty far in advance. This is Sugar Pine Reservoir, and it recharged my spiritual battery.

I worked in a couple of restaurants on the beach many years ago. It was not uncommon to "86" some of the characters we got out there. Doesn't mean we hurt them in any way. It just meant we refused to do further business with them.

You start with a completely false premise. We have means to hold the health industry to account. The courts are still working pretty damn well, despite trump. You don't jump to murder just because it's difficult to get your way.

When we start condoning murder, we make the least qualified among us our new leaders, people who are equipped with nothing but a gun.
