For #BeyondFriday this week we have a film that is said to be the inspiration for both the Final Destination films AND It Follows. I am talking about Thom Eberhard's 1984 film Sole Survivor. Just LOOK at that poster. I cannot wait for this one.

A pretty flawless movie. Warm, hilarious, great songs and just brilliantly written. Michael Caine makes the whole film by playing it straight as an arrow. I love it as much today as I did in 1992

A sumptuously shot samurai revenge western set in Scotland (obviously).
A lot darker and more deliberately paced than I was expecting, but engaging performances from Tim Roth and Koki and an unreal job by DOP Robbie Ryan make for a really decent watch

Great shout. I’ve not met anyone ever thats seen the film Watcher In The Woods, but that’s mine. Properly messed me up as a kid, couldn’t finish it and I’ve still never been able to rewatch it, even though I’m 45 and it’s a PG rated Disney film. It’s seriously seriously creepy though
