I got mine back in 2011 when my husband had to order it via a shipping address in the US (we were in Australia then). Somehow, it's still going. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it craps itself, especially now that I've said it's still working 🀣 my husband keeps asking if I want an upgrade. No way.

It's sickening!! I sew for fun, but have been known to put off sewing a zip for MONTHS because they are fiddly as heck. Fast fashion has absolutely warped people's ideas of what clothing should cost and how long it should last. And, you know, how much workers should be paid!! It makes me so angry.

This is NUTS. Zips are hard to put in. Sleeves are hard to put in. Collars are finicky. The "top part of a skirt" could involve pockets, lining, waistband, zip etc etc. This is skilled work and they're paid CENTS per piece????

Something appears to have been lost in translation. I missed how "ceasefire" became "continue bombing the hell out of an already decimated country". Demilitarise through destruction. JFC.

You're asking someone who has justified leftover pavlova as "eggs, cream and fruit" for breakfast. Go for it!
(In case you're wondering about leftover pavlova, I made it to take to a friend's place and then the guest of honour tested positive for COVID. So we did our best.)

I found it difficult and I spent longer on it than I usually would (what are Sunday mornings for?). I knew a couple because they're mentioned in a book series I read, and another my Nan taught my sister to play.

Even its plagues were half-hearted. All self-respecting river kingdoms have vast supernatural plagues, but the best the Old Kingdom had been able to achieve in the last hundred years was the Plague of the Frog*.

*It was quite a big frog, however, and got into the air ducts and kept everyone awake for weeks.

I've bought from this lady a couple of times - she makes the most beautiful colours and uses lovely fibre blends. A couple of years ago I bought a merino/silk/linen blend that was wonderful to knit with.

Went to the Vaterstetten Wollmarkt today. Very proud of myself for sticking to my plan of ONLY buying one skein of yarn (because I have SO MUCH YARN already). This is going to be a pair of lace socks

She's 13. Given the impact of puberty hormones on T1D I'd rather stick with the paediatric endocrinologist for now. I couldn't get her into the Kinderarzt when she had an infection a few years ago so our Hausarzt saw her grudgingly, but made it clear it was a once off until she was "old enough".

But then we can get the Überweisungsschein from the Hausarzt who is a 5 minute walk from us, then go four stops on the bus to the clinic. Both the Kinderarzt and the Kinderklinik require a drive and parking (okay PT is possible but when trying to fit appointments around work and school...)

Oh that's good to know. It's at the Kinderklinikum Schwabing so that's the reason. Once she ages out of paediatric care there is an excellent diabetes unit at the Krankenhaus closest to us, so that will make life easier.

I offer my kids a variety of food but I'm not going to die on that hill. There's always something on offer that everyone will eat.

I had to eat peas almost every night of my childhood, and I hated them. I used to eat them one by one in protest, which drove everyone mad, but I still had to eat my peas. Fast forward to 19 year old me getting an allergy test: extremely sensitive to peas. Mum was mortified.

My school community is in mourning today. Admin has handled the situation as well as can be hoped. Hard enough to manage my own grief, and that of my colleagues, but seeing young people mourn is bloody awful. Some of my students from last year came back and that just about undid me.

Having to get a new Überweisungsschein from the Kinderarzt for A before every quarterly Endocrinology review is a royal PITA. Like... T1D is a chronic condition. It's never going to go away. Oh and her clinic doesn't do E-Rezept yet so her prescriptions have to be mailed or picked up.
