Twenty years ago, in 2006, Save Your Skin Foundation was officially registered as a not-for-profit in BC, shortly after Kathy’s cancer recurrence.

As you settle into your new habits and resolutions this month, add a skin check to your monthly routine. When checking your skin, look for any new spots, asymmetrical moles, or changes in size or colour. If you notice anything unusual, book an appointment with your dermatologist for a closer look.

Did you know that when it's caught early, the five-year survival rate of melanoma is around 90%? Plus, many cases can be prevented by taking measures like wearing SPF, covering up in the sun, and checking your skin regularly for any changes.

These small habits can make all the difference. ☀️💛

Consider this your reminder to practice sun safety even in the colder months! Apply SPF before heading outdoors, bundle up, wear UV-blocking sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat or helmet when heading out to partake in all that winter has to offer. Let's enjoy the season safely!

Today is World Mental Health Day. At Save Your Skin Foundation, we recognize that caring for your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health. A skin cancer diagnosis can bring fear, anxiety, and uncertainty, and it’s okay to ask for help. You are not alone. 💛
