UK wealth tax is inevitable says billionaires nemesis
The 50 wealthiest families in the UK own more than 34 million people combined.
That level of inequality is totally unsustainable.
A wealth tax isnβt radical - itβs inevitable. And the Green Party will keep making the case.

I completely disagree. I just don't think that would go down well with *anyone*, but ESPECIALLY locals.
He's already a member of the London Assembley - he's contributing to decisions there - he's London based. There are already several Green MPs in the country. It would be totally unnecessary.

I don't think that's true - don't you think it would be weird for him to have parachuted himself into the seat? Hannah has lived there her whole life and works there - she's already a council leader - it makes great sense and represents local people better. it doesn't need to be the Polanski show.

Wowowoowwww!
In recent weeks we've had big numbers on the river in central Gent, which I guess is because of the inclement weather in NL and in the Atlantic. But my ~40 on a 100m stretch of river doesn't come close to this - incredible!

Article is a bit pointless because it doesn't really say....well, anything at all actually.
But, I had the chance to work on this species 21 years ago, while i was doing my bachelors. Stunning species that we marked, along with other andean endemics. What a shame that nothing has improved.

Next steps?
Let's get accelerometers on as well the GPS units we used here, to look at defining nightjar behaviours better and thinking about energetic, and knock on effects of foraging behaviour on individual condition, and fitness.

We found that nightjar movement behaviour is primarily influenced by sex, and the lunar cycle as well as the habitat they are in, pointing to a combination of variables that influence foraging efficiency and prey accessibility.

I'm not saying I buy it/ these things, but consumers do, generally. Obviously. It's hard for people to break said cycle when they don't have any money to make other choices.
12.01.2026 12:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
but people often make the most affordable choices, and the corporations can drive use of particular products that make them money. If they can produce stuff cheaply, with plastic (whatever that might be), then they can make profit, because they know people will buy it, because it's cheap.
12.01.2026 08:52 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Likewise. I don't use it, but was slightly forced into a situation where i did (lack of time, lack of colleagues etc) and even with my very rudimentary experience/use of python/bash, I found more solutions than it did in the couple of hours I spent using it.
Not for me.

Restoring nature and reversing biodiversity loss are urgent societal challenges. Utrecht University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Wildlife Ecology and Nature Restoration. In this role, you contribute to help solve these challenges through research and education by linking fundamental wildlife ecology to biodiversity recovery and nature restoration.
As an Assistant Professor, you will join a young, enthusiastic team that is eager to make an impact. You will help strengthen the teamβs mission to connect fundamental wildlife ecology with the challenges of nature restoration in human-dominated multifunctional forest landscapes, especially in north-western Europe.
Your research will focus on restoration-relevant themes, such as wildlife responses to anthropogenic change, the effectiveness of conservation interventions, and the contribution of wildlife to biodiversity recovery and nature restoration. Close collaboration with colleagues within and beyond Utrecht University is an important part of this role, as well as building sustainable partnerships with conservation practitioners and policymakers.
You will combine fieldwork, experiments and biomonitoring (e.g. using sensor technologies) with laboratory, statistical and theoretical approaches. There is ample opportunity to initiate research projects and to acquire funding.
In education, you will teach in the Biology programs, develop and coordinate a new course, and supervise research projects of BSc, MSc and PhD students.
Are you a PhD-level #wildlife ecologist committed to research and education for #biodiversity and nature restoration?
Our group at @utrechtuniversity.bsky.social has a #vacancy for an assistant professor!
Deadline for applications is February 19.
Please spread the word.
