Watching red zone while building my own live feed parser 😂. The backend ingests the firehose by path, parses the CAR data and filters it, then forwards the decoded operation records to the appropriate socket. The UI generates sockets by filter key and displays the streaming content in real time

Weekend project: at Proto pub sub server. Allows a front end app to subscribe to a did or operation path prefix or keyword, and receive a websocket connection that forwards all matching firehose events.

I’ve found defining the inputs and outputs, a few edge cases, and asking it to fill in the implementation to work pretty well. The things to look out for are more obscure like read after write operations, race conditions etc. But when specifically asked to solve those it will do so pretty well.

I’m thinking about building an aggregator backend that will take in a topic like bsky.social or leaflet.pub or whatever and depending on the filter params passed in forward those firehose events to a new socket and return that socket to the caller
