People don’t really like to admit it but Roy Halladay didn’t really do much for the Phillies franchise (SPs as individuals are overrated) and what we gave up to bring him here and keep him here ended up costing us for a decade.

This out was so huge in retrospect. Phillies got three runs in the 4th and fended off the Dodgers, then got two men on in the 5th and did nothing. Bottom of the fifth, Edman, who had already homered, leads off with a bullet to third, and Bohm just goes and gets it. No guy on 2nd for Ohtani, who K'd.

And more importantly, what did we actually win with Roy Halladay? And why didn’t we do anything? It was hitting. We needed bats, not pitching. We had plenty of pitching, and Cliff Lee was just as good as Halladay.

I mean the 2011 Nationals only won 80 games. He was on a below average team with below average lineup.

They got rid of Werh to make payroll room for Halladay and that was the downfall of that era. They shoulda never traded for Roy, kept Lee in Philly and kept having proper protection around Howard. That move ruined a lot and I don’t feel like most Phillies fans see it that way
