Would love your feedback on the example app we just put out that gives anyone with a Bluesky ID fully encrypted, scalable group chats built with MLS + XMTP.
We built this as an example, but going to be working with some people from the community to extend it to all ATProto

We built XMTP to work with any open identity standard. @bsky.app + @atprotocol.dev is just the first example. Any identity system with DIDs can plug in the same way.
This is how we build truly open, interoperable communication: protocol-first, identity-agnostic, decentralized infrastructure.

We’ve been building towards this moment for the past 5 years.
• 2022 → Secure DMs
• 2024 → Scalable group chats on MLS
• Today → Scalable group chats w/ quantum-encryption for ANY DID with passkeys
• 2026/2027 → Fully decentralized infrastructure for any DID

For @bsky.app + @atprotocol.dev devs, this means you can add secure, encrypted group messaging to your apps today.
How it works:
• Your XMTP Inbox signs approval of your DID
• Your DID's data repository stores the Inbox ID + signature

Today, @bsky.app + @atprotocol.dev devs can plug into XMTP to give users what they've been asking for: quantum-encrypted, secure group chats that scale to millions.
With our XMTPID identity model, it's finally here.

Thank you @boscolo.co
We just released an example app here with secure group chat. Would love your feedback!

Once accepted, Our office is your office.
Where should we host the first official XMTP Switchboard pop up? 👀
2/ What if Instead of 1 HQ we opened offices around the world all at once — for the people actually building and using the protocol?
The XMTP Switchboard is a global network of offices for our digital community to come together IRL. We are launching 20+ offices in 12 cities around the world!
1/ Typically “office space” means employees only, badges, hierarchy, and half empty spaces. Closed to the community, users, customers, and partners.
This changes today.
Introducing the XMTP Switchboard - pop up offices around the world for our team and entire community.
Our CTO @nickmolnar outlines the full plan in a blog post "XMTP’s Decentralization Update (Jan 2026). A milestone & metrics Driven Migration to Mainnet" here:

XMTP’s Ongoing Decentralization Progress (Jan 2026)
Where we're at:
Stage 1: Clean-slate testnet (Complete)
Stage 2: Validation with strict performance targets (In Progress)
Stage 3: 60-day migration prep
Stage 4: Coordinated mainnet cutover

It pays to be here.
For users: better coordination, money, and apps.
For builders: a new place to create and earn.
Base App is live.
Base Chat is Secured by XMTP.
Build where the conversation is.

CHAT YOU CAN BUILD ON
All of this runs on @xmtp_:
• End-to-end, quantum-encrypted group chats
• Open, decentralized messaging
• Identity-agnostic access run on a passkey
• Built for agents and apps
Privacy isn’t a promise. It’s the default.
DISCOVER MINI APPS
Mini apps run inside conversations and can be shared directly with a group.
Users don’t leave the chat.
Your mini app meets them where they already are.
AGENTS LIVE NATIVELY IN CHAT
Level up your group chat with adding @bankrbot
- Send money instantly to everyone in the chat
- Launch a token with friends
- Find a prediction market
CHAT IS THE NEW APP STORE
In Base App, chat isn’t a feature.
It’s where:
- Mini Apps are discovered
- Trading happens
- Money moves instantly
- Groups have fun
For builders, group chats are the new programmable surface area.
The @baseapp is live to the world.
Create, earn, trade, and discover all inside DMs and group chats secured by XMTP.
