I'm guessing that Perez, who is a good driver, but obviously not in the top tier, is either in denial, or suffering from reverse impostor syndrome.

For what it's worth I'm an (aging) Brit, who retired to SW France a few years ago after what seemed like several lifetimes in London. Loving it here and am getting back into doing music again. Although my increasingly arthritic hands are starting to make playing a 5 string bass more difficult.

I was really only a viewer on Twitter but was fast becoming annoyed by the whole tenor of discourse there. I didn't come here instead for an echo chamber, but a place where you can interact with civility. So far so good. Hoping it remains that way.

Just been watching Prof Gerdes Explains on YT about why people are quitting twitter for bluesky. Interesting video and interesting conclusions. I know not many people will see this post, but I do find it interesting to know what people's motivations are for switching...

Also noted that Justin Scroggy (ie?) might have been the name of a character in a book of yours, but apparently you were gazumped by Richard Osman. Author's rivalry, perhaps?😁

Maybe because i had recently re-read a few of Christopher priest's books, i did get a strong "Priest"vibe from this. Would be interesting to see more in that "slipstream" vein in future.
