PhenObs is a global network of botanical gardens studying the phenology and traits of herbaceous species. We are funded by @idiv-research.bsky.social Homepage: https://www.idiv.de/research/projects/phenobs/

02.08.2025 00:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0We were represented at Pheno2025 conference (@biometeorology.bsky.social) in ๐ง๐ท for the last 5 days. The days were full of exciting presentations and intensive exchange about phenological research. We look forward to deepening the collaborations we made in the future๐๐.
02.08.2025 00:57 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1We are happy that we can contribute to this conference in Brazil. Phenological research, like ecological research in general, must indeed be thought of in global terms, in line with the title of the conference: โPHENO2025 - Towards a Global Phenology Scienceโ.๐

We just finished the PhenObs Spring Symposium. In six very different presentations, colleagues from all over Europe talked about how botanical gardens can be used for ecological research๐ธ๐งช๐.
Conclusion: Botanical gardens are a fascinating research platforms๐.

๐ฟA new study in @newphyt.bsky.social finds that 27% of naturalised plants are threatened in their native range, revealing a conservation dilemma. As species distributions shift, conservation policies may need to evolve. #iDivResearch www.idiv.de/should-we-pr...

Over forty years, research spanning the Canadian Arctic, Alaska, and Scandinavia has shown significant alterations in Arctic vegetation as a consequence of climate variations. Around 60% of the locations examined in the study have witnessed a shift in plant species composition.
