Sen. Ruben Gallego says the impacts of the shutdown pale in comparison to the calamity that would ensue if the Obamacare subsidies expire: “If we don’t get ACA tax credit extensions, over 100,000 Arizonans are going to double their premiums on their health insurance. That’s painful and permanent.”

So the American taxpayer eats it twice, once on tariffs and again on a second farm bailout. I’m glad farmers are getting help, no one should lose their farm, but it’s remarkable how fast “socialism” stops being a dirty word when the checks clear in red counties.
