I’ve now had multiple sources tell me the UK NHS is removing the CDC from its list of reliable sources.

Welcome to irrelevance.

As I tell my students, don't google gank images and video. Attribute. Go to pixabay, wikimedia, and other resources to find CC or public domain works to use.

This reminds me of a scene in Team America World Police. Hans Blix arrives at Kim Jong Ils home to warn him of the angry letter he could send him for a variety of crimes. Before Kim drops him into a shark tank. Really no mistaking the message the movie was sending there.

I don't share about my family at all on SM. But one thing I do want to. My son asked to watch "that cook I liked, in Tokyo, that Bourdain guy" and also a documentary on ancient Rome. I am beyond happy and to a Cooks Tour and old school Engineering an Empire we go.

I admit, I never thought about that. It makes sense. You link more places with rapid, reliant, cheap (relative to car price & time lost in traffic) transit people will use it. Reduces both car and air emissions. Now I'm on a mission to plug my own knowledge gap & want to explore this rail network.

I've used EM dashes for awhile...and now I can not for fear of reviewers thinking I'm using AI. That came as an unexpected shock. I asked some students, who, too, are telling me they are desperately looking for anything that might make me think they used AI. What a world. #academicsky #edusky

But the Levee Was Dry What Disaster Zones Reveal About Governance Under Pressure

Linux and LibreOffice at the very least. Linux Mint is a glorious alternative to Windows and MacOS. Plenty of options if there's the political will.

Not a legal scholar, but this seems strikingly similar to the "it'd be a shame if your store burned down" approach to governance.

I am actively looking for postdocs, lecturer, or value aligned private/NGO positions in the EU & UK. My position @ Oregon is coming to a close. I have a modest grant to conduct research on disaster governance I can bring to an NGO, research institution, or university. #academicsky #edusky #jobsearch

I am a huge history nerd. I am making this my first ancient Greece book to replace what I lost in my move. If I were to do a 2and PhD it would be in some niche ancient history topic. Maybe it would be the evolution of narratives of battle discourse in ancient plays. Not that I thought about it...

It's not Shakespeare, nor is it about disasters (ok, a little bit...no spoilers) but I did a thing. books2read.com/u/3J1l6g

I wrote a story for my newborn son; stayed on the back burner. Over the years it changed, updated, simplified. I spent a year editing it and decided it was time to let it fly.
