Either way, that's it for tonight! What a wild session! I'm a little disappointed Malcolm didn't get to do more murder during his debut as a sword and bard, but there's always next time!

And interestingly enough, that Van Richten was traveling with a cousin of Malcolm's...

Seeing as he's back in the homeland, Malcolm might actually take a lil work trip and see if he can't turn up anything about his family, since I'm not sure if he's actually been back since the last campaign.

The town is called Kinderhook. This was where the OG crew killed the Headless Horseman years back (when our old ranger Leiha got her head cut off and, after her resurrection, gifted it to Malcolm to use as a fleshlight) and then where Kalare, our wizard, was hunted by a Van Richten.

Malcolm has never been here but apparently the last three I mentioned are catching up with the now-owner of the local inn, the son of the old owner (who is now middle aged due to our timeskip in the last campaign). We get rooms on the house and it's time to celebrate!

Mists flood the chamber, and when it fades, we find ourselves in a town square, with jackolanterns everywhere. Yassmin, Jin, and Baerkhad recognize it instantly as a town they've been to previously (in past Halloween sessions). The 3 missing folks are all here, and it looks like we've won!

Haste actions from Yassmin and with her savage attacks and sneak attacks, this dude is TOAST!

Zavuu successfully whips the Bagman in the gash left behind by the axe and manages to do damage and knock him prone! All follow up attacks are sadly misses. Baerkhad is laying in with eldrich blasts and Yassmin is stabbing for dear life.

Sorry, Mantle of Inspiration. I know this dude doesn't flinch to charming so no use in trying to command him.

Bagman didn't like that and PWK'd Brundahr. Thankfully he has over 100 HP but that fuckin' hurt bad.

Malcolm's up, and uses a 7th level Mass Cure Wounds to patch up Brundahr and Yassmin and his Mantle of Majesty to move folks closer.

Tuzon drags Brundahr into Bagman's range, and Brundahr is NOT fucking around. One slash has gotten through and connected though, and hopefully that will be enough to break his resistance!

Bagman is baghopping again, this time he's come after Jin. Jin deflected his attack with some monk shenanigans and then avoids managed getting yeeted into the wall.

We're debating pulling a LotR and tossing Brundahr at the Bagman at this point.

In the first incarnation of this campaign, everyone used to rag on Malcolm for being a coward. That said, this goes beyond anything Malcolm has ever done in terms of running. I actually applauded the player, this made me laugh HARD.

The Bagman has whooped the living hell out of Evrick, launching him across the room. He's got like 12 HP left. A few folks came over to try to save him, and he... fucking Planeshifted all the way back to his room in the Guildhall LMAO

Baerkhad counterspells, Bagman fails, Bagman uses Legendary Resistance to succeed, Yassmin takes 94 HP. WOOF!

She scoops up some item from the ground, swings it like a sword, tears a hole in space and appears next to Brundahr. The Bagman does not like this and casts POWER. WORD. KILL. on her.

Thankfully Yassmin has damn near 200 HP, but jesus CHRIST

Yassmin is alive! She's on the other side of a locked gate, in some sort of prison of the Bagman's creation. Malcolm technically spied her earlier but with all the excitement hasn't said much. She looks like she's trying to get out...

He's out of Malcolm's shield's range right now, so the frightened conditions are popping back up on folks. Baerkhad ends up coming in, getting scared, and running off to try to fireball him. 9 points shy of busting through his immunity, but he does burn up some bags...

Zavuu uses some special ability to analyze any damage immunities of the Bagman and other special traits and uh... this boi is BEEFY

Unfortunately, the Bagman realizes we're holding two of the relics that will end him, and he leaps into a bag of holding on the floor behind him. Malcolm and Brundahr stab and swing at him. Malcolm connects, Brundahr misses. No damage, and it bursts out of Evrick's bag and swings at him.

Malcolm hatches a plan. He asks Brundahr if he wants to see how he saved 12 Kegs, and the dwarf chuckles and says aye. Malcolm then Dimension Doors them right next to ol' Baggy himself. With Malcolm holding the shield, the screams that plague folks minds near the Bagman cease.

So Shadowthorn is essentially in cage hell where he's hearing screams of the damned, Jin has closed the gap and realized that he's not taking ANY damage. We all sort of figure out that Brundahr needs to hit him with the axe first... and he's last in initiative. Oh boy.

Shadowthorn rushes in and immediately falls still in fear, and instead decides to slash up some bags on the ground.

The Bagman doesn't like this, and tries to will him into one of the 4 empty cages (which J pointed out was empty "for now," quite pointedly, when we arrived), and Shadowthorn fails.

Baerkhad lights his lantern, and as he turns it, the Bagman is there.

It's initiative! Let's fucking DO THIS!

We're through the Labyrinth and we are IN the fuckin tower. Malcolm says a "For the Guild!" before heading in. Zavuu says "but we already have the guild," and Malcolm tells him that if Yassmin dies, they lose the Guildhall.

We enter, and it's dark, with glowing eyes in the dark...

An attempt to heal him with a 3rd level cure wounds didn't work, but with a medical check, healer's kit, a guidance from Baerkhad, assistance from Tuzon, and a bardic inspiration from Malcolm, and the barbarian has been healed. We now have his axe... Wyrdfang, the Last Cry.

It's a test of strength, but is it raw strength? Brundahr is weighing the options, and he seems honorable... perhaps matching this raging blood chant, where he's cracked and bleeding and drumming on his chest while chanting could win his respect. Or perhaps healing his wounds could help?

Last is Bullrush the Barbarian. He's in a tavern, cracked and bleeding, and PISSED that we're trying to beat the Bagman. And we have a loooot of squishies here. But thankfully Brundahr is stepping up to the plate.
