If I make the story a meta narrative about the horrors of navigating copyright law as a creative, would it be legally protected as parody...? ๐Ÿค”

I'm back to working on my Platformer again ๐Ÿ˜Ž I'm so much better at #gamedev now it's unreal... errr #unity

Thanks! Been putting it off for quite some time but I'm really happy with how it turned out

That's mostly due to the video compressed tbf (looks much clearer in game), but the HUD is thankfully a placeholder anyway. I'll probably clean it up a bit anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Finally set up Locks for my Sci-Fi Survival Horror game! Doors can be locked by Keycard, when the Power is out in the Sector, or if when destroyed

The Art & Sound is all new, and I think it communicates the mechanics pretty well!

tbf I do try this, but I find it tricky to keep it interesting, largely because I compare myself to others a bit too much. You're certainly right though. I think maybe I just need to find unique types of posts that I find fun and are easy to make (and are inherently engaging)

Gamedev is such an interesting topic to talk about, but I find it really difficult to make regular content on actually making progress. Does anyone have advice on how to cultivate an online presence without distracting from development?

Flashback to my FPS Platformer project

The idea was to warp the design of Super Mario Bros into a bizarre horror shooter. I then discovered Doom The Golden Souls so I paused it for now. I still wanna flesh it out when I get a spare few weeks

Have a great time dude! Very jealous as I've always wanted to go to GDC haha

Glad I'm not the only one to think this

I personally hope that publishing becomes more indie focused, taking smaller risks on a larger number of budding developers. Indie & solo projects tend to push game design innovation far more than AAA, which is especially exciting with the refinement and availability of VR tech

Haha thanks! The audio is super compressed for some reason and I still need to make item-specific pickup sounds, but it's well on its way!

Item Shader & Pickup functions in place! Rough UI also added to show your held keys, looking at Classic Doom for
reference. What you do think guys? Any notes?

Keycards for a Sci-Fi Horror game. Doom and System Shock were references. What do you think?

Added text makes them colourblind friendly! Gonna work on an item shader next so they stand out

Damn, what a glow up! Looks like you've taken a great approach to art direction and it's really paying off!

Really sucks that you lost it, but this is honestly an amazing gameplay concept and I'm kinda shocked I've not seen it in a game before

21.02.2025 16:58 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

This is an awesome concept for a stealth game! Being able to visualise how hidden you are by how closely you resemble the environment seems so tactile and intuitive

I'm imagining playing as a chameleon or an octopus evading capture. Maybe octopus works best as they can squeeze through tiny gaps

Honestly dude, I wrote a long post about someone I love who's had a very troubled life, which led them to do some morally ambiguous things. All reddit could say was "wow what a horrible person, you should kick them out of your life forever" ๐Ÿ™„

Life isn't black & white enough for redditors lmao

21.02.2025 16:52 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Honestly though, I only realised a month or so back that you can toggle the fog & skybox in the scene view with a single click, and I've easily used it about 20 times a day since then

21.02.2025 16:45 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

There's no way I've been using Unity for the better part of a decade and never knew this ๐Ÿ’€

Gonna have to give that a go lmao

21.02.2025 16:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Wow, very smooth! What kinds of edge cases do you need to watch out for? I've always wanted to make a Sonic style moment platformer but these kinds of gravity defying gameplay systems always seem like magic lol

21.02.2025 16:38 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Ooooooh this looks sick! This kinda videogame cyberpunk stylisation reminds me of System Shock, or even Turbo Overkill. Looks awesome!

Hot damn, I need something like this for #Unity3D

Any ideas? Anything that makes Level Design in Unity feel more like idTech/Source would be absolutely excellent

SURPRISE! I'm working on Multiple games at once!

Gory Groceries is a unique Arcade Survival Horror game where you need to do your daily grocery shopping amidst a Zombie Apocalypse. Expect high tension, quick thinking and hilarious absurd humour!

I don't think bullying is the right answer to this. If we take that approach, there's a good chance that they'll resent anti-gen AI sentiments and double down

I think a better solution is to reason that they're depriving themselves of fun/valuable experiences, and more interesting/personal results

20.02.2025 06:25 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Yeah it honestly looks so cool! It's a really neat effect and Actually has some pretty awesome implications for gameplay too if handled well.

This is what I had, but it's only able to apply the effect in UV space so far. Any advice would be huge, as I was going to use it for a dismemberment system like in #DeadSpace or #ResidentEvil2

Bluesky #indiedev gurus, does anyone have any tips for how to achieve this effect?

It's so sick! I've been looking to achieve something very similar to this as a gore shader for a zombie game, but I can't figure out how to apply it with volumes in world space

5/5 All indie devs should try drawing level layouts and if you like it, you need to invest in a dotted notebook! They're one of my favourite tools. I have a few and never leave home without one

I'm not sponsored, but leuchtturm1917 make by far the best ones - can't recommend their notebooks enough!
