11.12.2025 18:12 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0David Behringer told us, βIf youβre drinking water, youβre drinking a lot of TFA". A type of PFAS, classed by German regulators as 'reprotoxic' - potentially damaging to fertility + child development - TFA is produced when F-gases used in refrigeration, or PFAS in pesticides begin to degrade.

π¨Omnibus I Political agreement
Early this morning, EU institutions reached a political agreement that marks a turning point:
π The first rollback of an adopted due diligence law in history
π The first major file pushed through via an EPPβfar right alliance
www.linkedin.com/posts/europe...
It's here the seeds of "Abundance" were planted to cultivate an alliance btw extractive capital, fossil fuels, & centrists to attack the progressive left & take a sledgehammer to bedrock environmental laws they perceived as a threat to their dominance & the extractive systems they depend on.
08.12.2025 16:38 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs such a naive take to think that once these rules are in place, they will automatically change the larger political landscape and will somehow override the anti-renewable policies being implemented.
05.12.2025 10:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Genuine question: What happens if Dems somehow have the coherence and spine to extract a "force Trump not to derail renewables" concession from Repubs on "permitting reform," then Trump's handlers just... ignore it? Who forces their hand? The courts, appeals courts, and eventually Supremes. . . . ?

Matthew Yglesias criticizing an LCV web page opposing the SPEED Act as a giveaway to polluters, ignoring LCV's perspective that it cuts public participation, guts environmental protections, and reduces accountability by blocking people's access to the courts, writing: "Youβve probably read 90,000 excited tweets about how renewables can now beat fossil fuels on costs and how we need to all roll up our sleeves and embrace the solarpunk future. But look how green groups react to bill that makes both both renewal and fossil infrastructure easier."
Pundit supporters of "permitting reform" sweep aside (& do not understand) ecology & community.
In their ignorance, they seek to confine the decision-making space to energy infrastructure.
This invariably leads to doomed conflict btw/energy infrastructure + ecological & community systems.
Absolutely perfect to see Mark Carney and Anthony Albanese at the G20 together: both fossil fuel expansionists cosplaying as brave climate heroes
www.youtube.com/watch?v=S39D...
To emphasize: The SPEED Actβs relevance is not confined to energy, to the fight btw/fossil fuels & renewables. Its implications are expansive, covering all federal action that may harm the environment.
Whole ecological systems at risk under the false notion that building fast is building well.
We need to engage to understand local conditions. We need to solve all this complexity if we want a different energy landscape.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We need to make issues like energy poverty and interdependencies with other systems (physical and social) much more clear, and discuss them directly. In many cases, these are left as an afterthought or as an 'added benefit'.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's also a huge gap between those developing 'solutions' and people that are affected by those 'solutions'. I guess it follows the model of many other fields, so nothing surprising there.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Look, profits, I get it. But profits need not be the only guiding principle in figuring out how to transition to a low-carbon economy.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I've attended panels with company reps boasting about 'saving costs', with an illustrative example of a cloud platform for utilities highlighting how they were able to cut jobs as a cost-saving measure, and how they "can achieve the same for you!".
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's also clear to me (and smarter people than I have already said so) why private capital and the market alone cannot address a problem like the energy transition, in a way that is compatible with other principles, such as equity, inclusion, etc.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0An empowered public sector can also achieve other goals with progressive energy sharing models that allow for a more equitable distribution. The case of Valencia, Spain, is educational in terms of energy sharing models.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Financial, regulatory, physical, and cognitive barriers still define much of the energy landscape. Uncertainties in each of these creates one more layer that pushes people away. The role of the (in most cases) public sector is critical: creating interest, informing, guiding, and providing support.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Energy communities play a huge role and they are a critical building block in democratizing energy communities, but the process can be daunting. Information is essential. But this is not enough.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of them relates to democratizing energy. When discussing energy democracy, almost all the emphasis was put on helping people make better decisions as consumers, which is critical. Equally important, however, is about lowering the barriers to participate fully in a decentralized energy economy.
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0End of @enlit-europe.bsky.social. I'm amazed at the the creativity of folks trying to address grid flexibility, consumer empowerment, optimization, and streamlining processes. Still, there was a lot less interest in other dimensions of the energy transition #Enlit
19.11.2025 18:18 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Furthermore, executive actions building on demonstrably bogus βemergenciesβ empower unilateral fast-track approval of FF projects. For example, the Army Corps of Engineers re: pipelines

Agrivoltaics could represent a transformative investment in the way we manage land and solve for other critical problems.
18.11.2025 12:29 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0From a lack of harmonization in regulatory frameworks, definitions, data collection, etc. Siloed policymaking and regulation (ag and energy) makes things even harder. Agricultural and biodiversity benefits are not included in the LCOE. Siloed investment decisions and incentives/subsidies.
