I am only saying many on the left / humanist side of things have good reason to be nervous or skeptical about getting too close with religious institutions, primarily those that preach misogyny, anti LGBTQ+, or anti science ideals.

Great points, though many people are (I'd argue rightly) skeptical of and in many cases have been actively harmed by churches of varying stripes.

Definitely think making more allies is better overall.

If I had to weight them I'd say it's 70:30 political /jurisdictional / rabid risk avoidance to poor project management / staff being out of practice.

The public sector is knowledgeable enough, there are far too many veto points in any transit project. Plus add the very low risk tolerance as well as politics and out come ridiculous costs and stupid timelines.

There are also specialized equipment needs for some classes like chemistry, biology, gym, shop, etc.
