1. Cut transportation to the most vulnerable students that are in care, have acute mental health needs and with vulnerable family systems.

33million surplus while cutting transportation to the most vulnerable students that need mental health focused programming and cutting learning centres and replacing them with resource rooms that are called Hope, reducing supports for students across the board. It’s been terrible to see the impact.

They have cut transportation to the most vulnerable students, closed learning centres and removed supports for the most venerable students that are in care, of aboriginal ancestry and suffer from mental health issues while posting a 33 million surplus is obscene and complete incompetence.

I would have to say that the Surrey school board must be badly managed or can’t foresee expenses when there is only one client that is the ministry of education.

Yes and in Surrey they have cut transportation services to the most vulnerable students, those in care and of aboriginal ancestry that need specialized programming while reducing other supports. They have closed learning centres and are shoving these students into mainstream with a 33 mil surplus!.

The cuts to educational assistant time and to those that help vulnerable students impact all students as these kids will be in your kids classroom and making it hard for all students to learn if the supports are not in place. They do this while having a 33 million dollar surplus which is obscene.

They came out and said they are providing more programs but those programs are just another resource room and offer little compared to the specialized programming which they are replacing

Well the district has removed transportation to the most vulnerable students. Those in specialized programs due to severe mental health issues, family poverty and from kids in ministry care. Majority are also aboriginal. They did this while closing learning centres. All bad for kids!!!

The Recent Supreme Court decision is a terrible decision and I am curious if the BC Governments own lawyers are up to the job or even believe in the BC Governments position. They should all be fired. This goes a long way against Reconciliation.

BTW every study conducted has shown that social media is toxic to children and teens. Whether it’s promoting anorexia, eating disorders, body dysmorphia, hate and racism and sexualization of kids it’s the most cited factor contributing to poor mental health.

I one hundred percent agree. The best role model is a parent and to talk openly about these issues with kids. And to show vulnerability to our kids. If we as parents don’t talk about sex, relationships and consent and can’t be emotionally open then hate mongers will do the teaching for us.

Agree and that was my point, probably badly conveyed. I teach my sons about the importance of kindness, compassion, protecting others, and standing up for others especially when others are vulnerable. However, I don’t allow them to have social media as study after study shows it’s toxic.

Masculinity is not toxic. I am a man with two teenage boys. Allowing strangers such as Andrew Tate, promote hate to our teens and preteens is toxic. It is not normal to think it’s ok for strangers to talk to our children in their bedrooms without parents knowing. That’s what social media is.
