@lbc.co.uk @matthew-wright.bsky.social Has anyone got stats on how many hospitalised flu patients have had the flu jab? I had it once years ago and had the worst flu experience I'd ever had in my 62 years at the time. Now 69, no jab since, and no flu either. And hardly any flu before I was 62.

@matthew-wright.bsky.social I can see mention of your daughter in the Bio but none of your wife. Why not include her too?

@matthew-wright.bsky.social @lbc.co.uk 2) To gain income, it would help if the Govt made sure those on, say, over Β£70K at retirement, and starting a state funded last salary gold plated pension did NOT have a normal one too. They are taking from the State TWICE! Would save a few million..

@matthew-wright.bsky.social @lbc.co.uk Please stop caning us pensioners for good money management for our old age. No SUVs on the 'never never' no Sky Sports, no foreign holidays (unless we saved) - see 2)

No mention of doctors probably living with him through it ? Did he go to normal hospitals for treatment ? If yes and no to these 2 it's no wonder he had a fantastic chance of 'beating' it - can the rest of us have medical on hand at a finger click please ?

We have a local 'celebrity' called 'Walter' who is just like this guy!

Haha strange that the current subject is Blasphemy - Vanessa thingy has an obssession (as do other media people) with the 'O My G*d' - a sort of 'posh' thing - and action films always have at least 1 'Je***!' in them - no sign of 'O My Allah' or 'Mohammed!'

@alimiraj.bsky.social @lbc.co.uk Blasphemy - because Christianity has love others at it's heart it's taken advantage of eg the media obsession with 'O My G*d' everywhere and 'Je***!' in action films - no-one says 'O My Allah' or 'Mohammed!' in Action films!

Main goal this week - finish the (3rd - they've been good to us enabling us to help so many as a small local Debt Advice charity) Lottery Application...every time I apply for funds I can't help believing 'surely they won't say No' but still get the refusals-and we're talking relatively small numbers

Haha! Good idea! My late Dad had one of those in the 60's - attached to a Triumph (I think) and we call the whole thing 'Emily'...!

I know I keep banging on about this but re pensions - just take out those on last salary pensions earning above Β£70K out of the State scheme - especially if they're on Govt funded last salary schemes as they are taking Govt money twice!

Paying for it today - with CFS there is a payback - so the payback for going out to celebrate (we were out for 1hr 50mins) is a Hypnic today and total Exhaustion. She had a short daily walk, made half the lunch (I had mine separately ), and 'did the books..

My wife, who suffers from acute CFS/ME/Fibro, has had a better week than normal with few Hypnic headaches and good sleep (ie only woke up 3 times on average) and we celebrated our 49th anniversary of 1st date yesterday by going out to a country pub with an open fire...Earl Grey + bottle of Coke..

I wonder if his 'time' is nearly 'up' and on his way soon...and what happened to her proposal? Now on ice with this side story? And where ..is...PiP? Her awfulness makes for good chats here..although Tom and NoCasha are good substitutes...and Henry who's already getting on nerves!

I wonder if Joy, after all her 'Oo loovlee Pet' outer exterior, will turn out to be a mysterious Mrs Danvers type character? And I'm trying to get me head round whats happening with 'the bairns' while Rochelle gallivants around looking for guys - another miss for poor old Rex..

More - the news this morning is that Badenoch is talking of means testing Pensions (currently the lowest in Europe according to another post I saw,) - why this bobbing up of caning pensioners but nothing about MPs and their HUGE benefits? It's just boring - with the WFA going and WASPi women..

17.01.2025 08:35 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Of course she won't - salary increase, living in No. 11 and renting out her home for extra Β£000's a month. If I had those benefits I'd let people say what they want!

6) Instead of caning us pensioners assuming we're all in castles, there could be a policy of anyone over Β£60K salary, and due a state funded last salary pension, NOT also having the state funded normal pension? Any pay increase to NHS staff, civil servants etc, although good, never mention that..

17.01.2025 08:24 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

5) And then we have the MPs who cut stuff EXCEPT their own fantastic benefits - discounted catering, 2nd home allowance, Β£3K fuel allowance, 'Expenses' and that fantastic gold plated index linked pension.

17.01.2025 08:21 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

4) We rarely watch ITV, C4 etc with their dumbed down stuff punctuated by Kia Ads. We watch mostly iPlayer on a Laptop so no 48" screen on a wall dominating a room. And as someone running a Debt Advice Charity I see all this time and again, not always, but its there.

3) Or the device is too slow - that speed is determined by the amount of data - and the pressure to add things like Sky Sports, or PCP (once called 'Never Never' but now cleverly changed) so they have the latest SUV and bully people like me with our 07 Reg Focus - all don't help.

17.01.2025 07:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

2) I also think Advertisers have a lot to answer for with their constant drip drip of have this and your life will be great - and Technology is now so important that people on low income feel they 'have to' upgrade to devices costing Β£80 monthly otherwise they're not 'cool'

Interesting. I'm not sure (and I'm no Tory) what they could've done about the cost of Covid, as a Brexiteer I think the long term benefits will be good and I also think the EU is close to break up which will mean we all revert back to a proper 'Common Market' with free trade.

And still including characters after the actors have passed away in real life, or replacing them with awful actors after that eg 'Robert'..

And most of it from Tories I reckon. Their narrative seems to be 'no experience' or 'no business experience' thus trying to call anything affecting business an Ideology connection..what business experience did Johnson, May, Sunak or Cameron have? The 'narrative' can then be the strapline in PMQs

Yep you got it - as if Starmer will suddenly slap his forehead and say 'Of course! I have a 170 majority but we need another GE! Why didn't I think of that?'
