Wow incredible. I was handing out flyers 8-12 and 4-6 and it felt super busy all day but dinner time was so busy I couldn't hand them out fast enough.

It sucks. I went down to about 25% monthly salary since losing my job at the start of August. Lots of meal planning and Aldi shopping helped as food is the biggest expense outside of utilities/mortgage. If you haven't signed yet, ask for a sign on bonus. I asked and got one that will help a lot.

I spent all day (7am until 5pm) studying and practicing on the firegrounds for my Proboard exam in two weeks. I don't begrudge it, learned a ton, and left exhausted. Shortly after I got home, we had a residential fire that kept me out until 1am. Got home and "it's too late for fun" but sat down....

Food donations are ALWAYS appreciated (especially because they often cover areas that the pantries don't get access to like adult diapers, menstrual care, cleaning supplies) but cash covers the basics in ways a couple of donated cans does not.

100% this, I've been working with the local pantry in Dormont for years and money is 100% more useful than random semi-expired stuff. They can leverage the buying power of cash to buy entire pallets at massive discounts (think ~.15 cents a box for mac & cheese) from food bank sources.
