A redesigned food market at Kennedy-King College provides students with free meals and upgrades food pantry experience  • The TRiiBE Chicago City Colleges aims to open food markets at all City Colleges to tackle student food insecurity.

A newly redesigned on-campus food market will provide free food for students at Kennedy-King College in Englewood. Statesmen Market is an extension of Chicago City College’s former food pantry.

The market was created to remove negative stigmas that are associated with food pantries.

The OG @lecruset.bsky.social that I bought 38 years ago at a time when I made very little money and this pot was a big investment. Countless stews, braised and loaf of bread have come out of this beautiful pan. Amongst my collection, this is one is the most cherished. #lecruset 🍜🍽️

When I first started making bread, I was amazed at the magic of it all. 🍽️

Years later, I still marvel at the magic, but have gained the confidence to play. Tonight’s loaf, enriched with sharp cheddar and thyme, was heavenly with a generous slather of good and salty cultured butter.

Planning to cook today. Looking at my pantry... dried pasta (from Italian pasta to soba and ramen), sushi & jasmine rice, curry paste, various hot sauces, canned tomatoes & paste, dried mushrooms. Also some veg, goat cheese, cooked beans & miso paste in the fridge, cooked chicken in the freezer. 🧐🤔

I always find myself choosing books I wouldn’t usually buy, lovely and cheap - and discovering all sorts of unexpected treats. Today I treated myself to a couple of murder mysteries. Fun times ahead! #doodleaday

It continually amazes me how much power food holds. A bowl of hot soup has the ability to comfort and soothe even the most tired body and the most harmed heart. I wish I could serve this bowl to so many living beings right now. 🫶✌️🥣
