People generally don’t like things they don’t understand.

It’s for the intuition. Think “staged Short Selling scripts waiting on threat of eventual Black Swan collapse…”. It’s a new thing, a new way of anticipating outcome. AI doesn’t replace fry chefs. It replaces Risk Analysts.

The challenge in AI is grasping the difference between “quantitative” and “qualitative” problem sets. Quantitative problems have clearly defined methods for solutions. Qualitative problem sets are nuanced, largely lacking method, making them unreliable, resulting in unrepeatable outcomes.

I would hedge my bets on this take. For the history of compute, questions and solutions have been largely “quantitative” in construct. The new normal is “qualitative“. It’s going to take a few decades to figure out how to really use AI, no matter how many chatbots we see…
