Went in for my day shift in February 2019, I was standing in the parking lot trying to get photos of it as I was being buffeted by 45 - 50 knot wind gusts 😂 the second one (dark one in this post) was in July 2019 as I left the house for my mid shift. All courtesy of our local volcano Frosty!

Are there plans to install more seismometers to give a better chance that something is rapidly detected and can be triangulated by the system to provide the most lead time?

Probably. Even the rungs going up the side aren’t too rusty, so it must be on the protected side of the tower.

It must be up by Alaska, the tv guy keeps saying something about the frozen tundra.

Looking off toward the entrance to Tamgas Harbor. The observation post was part of a 4 gun emplacement, with 155mm guns providing harbor defense.

Started working on clearing an old road that leads to an old WWII concrete bunker/observation post up on a small hill. If I can get the trees and brush around the observation post cleared, I plan on putting a weather station on it.

My parents in Fluvanna are back and forth between sleet/freezing rain, as well.

My parents had 2.8” of snow/sleet at 8:30 am, the sleet started around 2:30 am. Sounds like it might have transitioned to either freezing rain or sleet/rain mix.

I just replaced the anemometer on one of my stations, and the rest of it is over 6 years old, so if you could not break it, that would be greattttt.

I would say it is hoarfrost! Very pretty, and usually fragile.

Got to see a gorgeous sunset last night as I was getting ready to leave the office. This morning was clear and chilly, with temperatures in the low to mid 30s, making for a slick drive out to the ferry terminal to swap out the battery on the Walden Point station for the last time this winter!

It was a tad windy today. My station at an elevation of 865ft on Chester Lake Dam.

I am 1/1 for high wind watches so far this year!

WSO Annette Island CWOP station stats for the month of December. Due to snow falling on several days, particularly during the second half of the month, and the precipitation gauge being a tipping bucket gauge, precipitation amounts are not entirely accurate.

Not sure how I feel about that 😂😬

I am happy to report that the Meteogram Generator is working again! Also of note, the GFS may want to dump a foot of snow on me. Because why not?
