Isn’t the bigger story that social media bots are so easily identified, yet the platforms that host them do nothing to stop them? Aren’t these bots essentially a form of fraud against paid advertisers? Do inflated engagement metrics from bots distort market valuations of social media companies?

Cynicism may resonate with audiences disillusioned by politics and drive media profit and clicks, but it does nothing to advance justice or survivor‑centered accountability. Is this what women supporting women is meant to look like?

I agree that real‑time choice in the midst of pain and urgency can be illusory. That’s why birth plans matter most before labor begins: they support autonomy, outline preferences, and prepare contingencies in advance, so doctors aren’t asking for nuanced consent in the middle of an emergency.

Uncertainty is real, but that’s why women must be active participants in decisions. Those who chant “pink is for girls, blue is for boys, trucks for boys, dolls for girls” also love to call others sheep, and yet they’re the ones blindly following outdated rules. True freedom means breaking molds, not policing them. Stop bleating conformity and start thinking for yourself.

Control is a strong word, maybe choice or options are better, but most important is understanding. Hospital priorities (efficiency, liability, hierarchy) shouldn’t override autonomy. Even when there is no medical requirement, the system is designed to accommodate hospital staff over patient choice.

I’m not sure what your point is; are you not in support of women determining their birth plan? Or did you misread my comment?

I’m not an expert on the UK’s Protection from Harassment Act 1997. However, if the school believed the parents were in violation of the law, contacting the police was absolutely the right thing to do. It seems the police didn’t act properly and paid compensation. The school banned the parents.

A group chat isn’t private. Once more than two people are involved, there’s no expectation of confidentiality. Opinions can be shared there, but is that really what they were doing? The messages in the article suggest that parents were talking about each other and involving their children.

I didn’t see anything to suggest they tried the correct approach. I never said parents can’t exchange opinions privately. My point is that if resolution with the school was their intent, the agreed forum is the PTA, social media chats don’t compel action. Parents are the ‘organizers’ of the PTA.

What should have been tempered by humility becomes amplified by authority, leaving both institutions and subsequent generations to absorb the consequences of one person’s unchecked certainty.

Being elected or appointed, like giving birth, comes with no additional knowledge being bestowed upon the individual. However hubris appears in abundance, and when acted upon, it converts ignorance into policy, arrogance into precedent, and error into legacy.

I’ll track two from Brazil and two from Puerto Rico and we’ll see where we are between now and March 2026.

We foolishly took libraries for granted: humanity’s knowledge under one roof, curated into defined groupings by experts (librarians) for our edification & enjoyment. Then came the internet, given to all, even those who had never stepped foot in a library, & told, ‘You figure it out.’

Addressing real concerns requires an agreed-upon forum. Since both parents & the school are involved, the agreed-upon forum is the PTA. Social media could work too, if all parties consent.

I can’t wait to see whether this impacts the retail coffee price consumers pay or results in higher profits for wholesalers and retailers.

Historically, tariff rollbacks don’t reduce prices; they simply halt further increases, and prices level out at the new, higher point.

This seems like an issue that would, and should, be addressed at a PTA meeting. I don’t understand why anyone would think WhatsApp or Facebook is the appropriate venue for this type of discussion, especially if they want action to resolve their issue. I’m doubting these parent’s intent.

Advocacy groups can push for systemic change by documenting coercion and demanding reform.

Women deserve bodily autonomy. Vote as if your life depends on it, because it does.
