Re yesterday's pseudo-masculinity seminar. Women my age have heard these noises many times from A) underqualified bosses taking credit for our work and B) egoistic men who are ineffectual in the sack. The insistence on calling himself “secretary of war” reminds me of Dirk Diggler in “Boogie Nights.”

Fox body language: As Black Man speaks, White Man taps foot, glances at watch, interrupts; Black Man chimes in to agree with "involuntary", recoils at "lethal" as if swallowing his tongue; Woman listens intently as Men speak, inhales sharply at "injection", jumps in to deflect for White Man.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me? Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

I'm not sure full numbers are being reported for #NoKings. We had 76 register, 31 check in, but 150+ in reality. Ages 10-93. A tiny RED town in rural WA, population 2,100!

I kept saying, “I wish somebody would do a #NoKings protest in Westport. Then I remembered: “Oh. Crap. I’m somebody.” This is a tiny town in a red county, but I thought a few folks might show. Today, 150 strong, ages 10 to 93, we marched with joyful resolve. Moral of the story: Be somebody.

In LA we see a trumped up reality TV runup to martial law. In DC we see a dictator-style parade. We the People stand between our democracy and a petty tyrant who needs to be a king because he doesn't know how to be a president. Wake up. Stand up. Show up. It's #NoKingsDay in America.
