I do believe that when possible we should allow for as much customization of subtitles as possible. We often get requests for the ability to raise subtitles to closer to center screen, though it can interfere with UI and player scene understanding. There are pluses and minuses to everything.

There are a number of reasons for this, mostly related to industry standards. Placement requires a number of departments to reserve screen space, including framing for cinematic shots. the technical side of placement is not difficult to adjust, but can block out visual information.
