3/ Contra LLMs, some have returned to exams + I get why on some level. But surrendering a bit to process + worrying less about formal assessment has been quite freeing. Perhaps one solution to the AI in education crisis is to lean into F2F/interaction (even virtual) + more time in class. 🏫

2/ Students LOVED it. With almost weekly assessed activities, they got in a groove of prep, showing up, + doing. With discrete scenario work each class, team members rotated giving folks a chance to meet + learn with everyone. They got regular feedback + tackled issues meaningful to them. ...

Yes, it’s a little more skint here, for sure,especially since there’s a huge infrastructure deficit and we’re caught between properly funding unis versus soaking students for tuition.

I think there are other options than going backwards pedagogically on this. But they're harder, and require collective action, such as changing how we timetable, expanding in-class assessment, and better training for instructors. We're not going to Paper Chase™️our way out of this problem.
