A Chaos Squat model, painted in very dark grey (background), orange and teal, and made up from remeshing the following free STL files: * Body + arms from Toftylicious' modular armoured space dwarfs (Cults3D). * Gun from Ultraviolence's "Chaos Renegade 03" (Cults3D). * Head from DakkaDakkaStore's "Full Metal Brotherhood promo bits set" (Cults3D). * Backpack from Moonkanin's "Evil Crusader Backpack" (Cults3D). * Right shoulderpad from MaochaMinis's "Legion of the Damned shoulderpads" (Cults3D, not available atm). * Left shoulderpad from LordChammon's "Civil War mark six shoulder protections" (Cults3D). Had to remix and tinker a bit with all the pieces (scale included) to achieve the desired result, since this evil stunty boy is meant to fit alongside my other "oldscale" Chaos Space Marine models.

The three Chaos Squats I've made so far, all of the painted in matching colors: very dark grey base, orange and teal details, grey tubes and purple bolters. Bases in dark grey.

Third space #chorf! Entirely #3dprinting from free STLs (check ALT). Poor guy was almost a miscast (messed up scaling the gun, had to sand the pieces to make it fit). Also, guy's got quite the Halloween vibe!

Amazing! Stuff I especially like:
* Red weapons. A cliche from the mid 90s style, but it works. Gives contrast to every mini, and also cohesion among the ranks.
* Back banners. Some find them silly, I like how they evoke samurai vibes.

It's a freebie from creator Ultraviolence on Cults3D. An absolute pleasure to print and paint. I left the link in a reply of the original post ;-)

As I've said many times, it's almost a miracle they could make this design work, specially considering the casting technology they had back then (it's been 35 years!). But it works, it's menacing and cute at the same time.

The original design works for me due to the uncanny balance between the oversized pads and limbs, and the somewhat slender frame. Somehow, it works! The remake is just too bulky and huge, looks like a child's toy to me.

Iconic, timeless, and really suits the original spirit of the setting. The RT book has many illustrations of helpless space marines being gunned down!

Always been in love with this "archaic" terminator armour design, pure #oldhammer vibes from the #roguetrader era. Yet I was quite underwhelmed by the official "remake". Luckily, STLs come to the rescue!

Cracking indeed. I also believe that, beyond good design, they've got the paintjob and overall aesthetic quite right: the models have a cool vintage vibe, but still look like "modern" minis. And it's a bliss, because other space dwarfs in past years have been quite underwhelming (hey there Mantic!)

These look reaaally cool. Of course, being space dwarfs, there was no alternative! 😆

Bueno, a ver. Manolo como estereotipo de señor algo bruto y pasado de moda ("tienes voz de Manolo", "menudas pintas de Manolo"), Jonathan para poligonero nacido a finales de los 80 y principios de los 90 ("ese chaval parece un Jonathan de la vida"). Haberlos haylos.

Some of the (very well painted, do not misunderstand me) wood elves' faces seem to be recovering from a terrible hangover, but it only adds to the charm!

Not "best dread eVeR" because that's taken by the glorious 2nd ed. Chaos Dread, but this wonderful thing comes up as a close second! Amazing painting by the way, so clean, so crisp.
