Just finished making A Thing. From the Wild Oleander Hooded Scarf pattern on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...), using Sirdar's Jewelspun yarn in the Quartz colorway. Soft & snuggly. π§Ά

Image of an amigurumi pocket monster, crocheted in royal blue cotton yarn, with hair of predominantly yellow novelty yarns and wielding the twin swords of justice and freedom. Or cocktail picks, whatever.
I'm not saying I believe in or practice sympathetic magic or anything like that, but isn't it interesting that I crocheted this Little Blue Warrior on Election Day, and gosh. Just look at the result.

Pattern is "Bonfire Bucket Hat," available on Etsy from KrissyOTMCrochet, and I made mine from a bunch of Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarns I found in my stash. I'd like to make another, maybe next time with some of that Mandala Impressions yarn.
I made a hat. A bucket hat. Sometimes, when working on several projects (feel like they take forEver), I'll stop, take a day, and just make a hat. For that dopamine hit, you know? Deets in the alt text, as usual. π§Ά

Image of a crocheted heart motif on a black leather surface. The heart is in three colors of yarn; pale pink, rose pink, and steel gray. All respect to freeform fiber artists. There's engineering going on there, to a level I can only aspire to. So I'm working myself up to actual freeform crochet with baby steps - trying things out with a project that utilizes some freeform techniques. The pattern, #loveyourselfmandala, is from Louisa Sheward (available for purchase on Ravelry); the three colors used are all size #1 Rainbow 8/4 100% cotton yarn from Hobbii. Turned out bigger than I thought it would, being about 7.5" across at its widest point.
My (late to the party) attempt at the #loveyourselfmandala.
Deets in the alt text, as per usual. Now, this heart ain't perfect, but it is Just Right.

Image of a google-eyed mannikin head wearing a granny circle based beret, crocheted from a worsted weight wool & alpaca blend yarn in autumn colors of rust, gold, pumpkin, and terra-cotta.
I went to Yarn Harbor in Duluth, where many treasures were found - like this skein of Berroco Ultra Alpaca (Tiger Eye Mix). All it took was one skein, & using my favorite Clover Amour hook, I had this hat - a sort of granny circle beret - done in a day. π§Ά

Image of a long scarf crocheted in graduated shades of cream to dark brown. Adapted from Vashti Braha's free Ravelry pattern (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/slip-stitch-short-row-tutorial), with the following adjustments:
I used Lion Brand's Ferris Wheel yarn in the Morning Java colorway, used a 5.5 mm hook, and worked up from a starting chain of 40 in single crochet rather than slip stitch. Finished dimensions: approximately 7 feet long by 7 inches wide.

Image of a crocheted mens necktie in blended shades of dark blue, gray, and olive, laid on a pale gold bedspread. The tie is folded in half so it would fit in the photo - it's actually 5 feet long. I wanted the tie to have a distinctive appearance, so Tunisian crochet was the perfect choice. The sock yarn used is from Cascade Yarns, specifically Heritage Paints - a hand painted sock yarn colorway called "Thunder." It had been in my stash for years.
Closeup image of the Tunisian crochet texture, and the tie pin. I made it from the medallion that was on the gear shift knob from the car I liked best to drive - a 1982 red Toyota Corona (I called it The Tomato). I really loved that manual transmission. Anyway. I had this originally made as a lapel pin (sterling silver backing), but I converted it to a tie pin for my grandson, to celebrate his growing skills as a driver.
Image of a small gift box wrapped in white butcher paper and tied with a reddish brown nylon ribbon.
Instead of tying things up with a bow, I opted for a half-Windsor knot.

Iβve seen a couple of posts where artists have been wondering how to keep going, does their art matter in a world so bleak?
Iβm saying yes, yes it does. The humanities, the arts are where truth lies.
If your work sparks joy in yourself and others, that is powerful in the darkest of times.
