Long overdue, I finally did a proper inventory of my movie collection and it turns out there are less than 5 Alien boxes overall. I expected worse.

Close to finishing Doom The Dark Ages, which completely re-ignited my love for this medium. What an experience so far, I am getting in a flow zen-like state, which I have missed since 90s arcade titles.

I played the entirety of the GTA franchise for about 30 minutes total way back on the PS1. Never touched this thing again ever and the "biggest media trailer release ever" will not change that. This franchise does _nothing_ for my taste and reading that GTA6 costs 2B$ to create is just sad.

Oh I see why Nintendo delayed the Switch 2 so long. They did not dare to reveal these prices. Videogames become very pricey again, don't they? And I paid 149,- Deutsche Mark for the Doom SNES port back then. It still hurts. πŸ˜‚

I don't think we realize yet how destructive this is in the long term to creative originality. IP theft at this scale is unprecedented, and it gets much worse real fast.

Gene Hackman: a life in pictures The Oscar-winning actor, star of The French Connection and Unforgiven, has died at the age of 95. Here we look back on a that career that spanned five decades and numerous awards

AI Tools Make Workers Less Critical, More Confident, Microsoft Study Finds A study of over 300 knowledge workers has revealed a concerning paradox: the more confidence people have in AI tools like ChatGPT, the less likely they

This started with unfathomable amounts of data becoming accessible to all people via internet search in general, was multiplied by smartphones putting it into everyone's pocket, and is fuelled further now by AI.

This has been a very positive and promising DICE summit.

We are going to see a return - or better yet - a new shift towards sensations over statistics and delight over data.

Videogames are about to reach a whole new level.

Platforms need to rise up.

Microsoft's own research confirms something that was already pretty obvious: relying on a text generating machine to come up with answers erodes critical thinking, and is a method favoured by those who never liked doing critical thinking in the first place

We need more games for people who aren’t β€œgood” at games but who won’t be treated like brainless tap-monkeys.

Games that make you feel comforted instead of assaulted, delighted instead of distracted, invited instead of getting guilt-tripped by cynical FOMO-loops.

The world is dark and hard enough.

Thanksgiving 5-Day U.S. Box Office Hitting Amazing All-Time $420M High; AMC Boss Adam Aron Declares β€œA National Phenomenon” – Update Thanks to 'Moana 2', 'Wicked' and 'Gladiator II', the Thanksgiving box office is seeing an all-time domestic record of $422M.

THE BIG TAKEAWAY: while there is still a market for making movies for 50 year old white Gen Xers, the real money at the box office is in diverse movies for Gen Z & Gen A. The former have great home theater setups, the latter group don’t and want to get out of the house.
