On Nov. 6 I dragged myself to the gym first thing after not sleeping at all. A lady watched me power through some Bulgarian split squats then came over and told me I was super strong. That small kindness got me through that day

I had friends who weren’t allowed to read the assigned books at our public school (we were evangelicals) but their mom didn’t try to ban I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings for everyone. I have an odd new respect for that.

School board meeting. A lady almost cried over the fact that kids could buy Colin Kapernick’s book for kids at the Scholastic Book Fair. But half of the kids in our district aren’t white, and they absolutely deserve representation.
