Yes, I think I read that she votes with the Republicans something like 96% of the time, but I'm trying to think positive and hope that the 4% of the time where she went her own way offers a glimmer of opportunity.

I want to write to her without antagonizing her. It seems that she understands the heartbreak and destruction that can be caused by separating families, and perhaps we can use this to persuade her to vote for more humane immigration policy and stop the mass deportations that are happening.

I suspect they were ordinary everyday shells, but my great-great-grandfather was a trustee of the Brooklyn Museum so the curator probably felt obligated to accept them. Nonethless, I love the image of the two little boys handing over their treasures.

I can't bear reading any more about politics, so I'm posting something that makes me smile. It's a thank you note from the curator of the Brooklyn Children's Museum written to my grandfather and his older brother in 1911 (my grandfather was born in 1910!)
