Of course. Why would you invest in soft power?

It just helps in the kind of warfare that:

a) Russia has shown it's actually good at;
b) Russia is waging on the West already;
c) The UK/NATO nuclear deterrent is useless in preventing;
d) Costs a fraction to fund compared to military hardware.

If you speed up from 10 miles-per-hour to 40, you save 45 minutes on that 10-mile trip. If you speed up from 70 to 100, you save less than 3 minutes.

Mark Carney has delivered one of the most important speeches of our era. There is a better future waiting for Britain if we dare to follow his example.

Today in 1983 Stanislav Petrov saved the human race.

On duty at the Soviet early warning command centre, he refused to warn superiors of radar reports of an incoming US strike. It proved to be a false alarm. If the Soviets had responded it would have been all out nuclear war.

3X Explore/Expand/Extract observation--criticism as a resource. I tried to use a tool yesterday & was angry when it didn't (yet) work for me.

If you're Exploring & a user gets mad, that's such a gift. Just yesterday you a) didn't know quite what to do & b) weren't sure anyone cared what you did.

Large-scale processing of within-bone nutrients by Neanderthals, 125,000 years ago Neanderthals intensively processed a minimum of 172 large mammals for grease and marrow fat, 125,000 years ago.

So they found a 125,000 yr old Neanderthal fat rendering plant & I have thoughts.

Knowing that they loved saturated fat SO MUCH that they industrialized to get as much of it as humanly possible?

Makes me feel seen, heard, supported, etc www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I can only remember one which expected the original IBM PC 4.77Mhz clock speed and which you had to use the turbo button to play. But after that everyone realized this and dealt with variable clock speeds.

Superb by @dorianlynskey.bsky.social esp on Rod Stewart:
