A few years later, Dr Jane Goodall was the victim of a rude staffer, Mary Lewis. In an article, we referred to her as Dame Jane, since she received a DBE, and her citation from the Palace referred to her this way, too. The email an intermediary received from Mary was, ‘There is no such person as Dame Jane.’ I told the intermediary that there most certainly was and sent him the Palace link. Mary then started being belligerent to me directly, saying that Jane had the right to refer to herself any way she wished. Of course she did, but that wasn’t what her email said: she said there was no such person. If only she had been polite with her request, and said, ‘Jane Goodall prefers Dr Goodall and not Dame Jane,’ but, like Rick Pallack’s staff, she thought it was better to ask a favour by insulting someone. I called her out, noted she had failed to apologize, pulled the article, and blocked the Goodall Institute, as I no longer felt comfortable with recommending them to over 200,000 readers if salaries were being spent on abuse. Soon after, they lost US$5·5 million as the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s DOGE killed USAID. While they didn’t deserve that loss, part of me wondered if Mary had told the us that her boss didn’t exist! Jane passed away not long after, so Mary got her wish.

I donʼt know anything about SERanking but my experience with Semrush is resoundingly negative. Semrushʼs tools do not show real search volumes: they are predictions. As a result, they made my life hell all year. Also they do not obey robots.txt files, despite claims on their website.

The fact they're seen as anti-tech fools is a result of deliberate propaganda succeeding.

I suspect we were used as a sort of test bed by foreign actors to see how easily dis/misinformation could be spread.

Sorta like how they tested EftPOS here, but with more dipshits and negative effects on our collective well-being.

Just regular Mastodon is more feature-rich. Sadly, I donʼt find much of a community here. Just a lot of anger and stress whenever I look at the main feed. Happy to have left that behind on OnlyKlans. Social jumped the shark a while back IMO. Weʼre now just waiting for Ted McGinley to show up.

Character limit too short, posts not editable, no true implementation of Activitypub—I don’t feel it moves the game on. To launch after Mastodon but have fewer features, yet benchmarked against Twttr only? Not that Mastodon is perfect, far from it.
Maybe I can connect my Wordpress feeds to here?

Far more active now, and more interactions per post, than OnlyKlans had, on a tiny fraction of the numbers. I can’t do a fair comparison with here though, as I haven’t posted much. But not really interested in another Twttr with uneditable posts and such tiny character limits.

Did you join Mastodon.nz? That was a terrible server. The mods at that time were newcomers pretending to be experienced users. If you joined another, you might have a better experience.

Thatʼs where I am, been there since 2017. Not falling for another platform owned by a rich dude who says one thing and does another.

Funny. Donʼt intend to stick around though. Too much like OnlyKlans before it became OnlyKlans.
