For community college students, “online classes are here to stay,” Daniel Seddiqui, a youth employment counselor, writes. But some “just aren’t getting the three-dimensional experience of college life that would help them become well-rounded professionals.”
SFUSD’s 2024-25 data release: mixed so far, but overall not exactly the best we can do for our students.

That’s right. And we’re not done fighting for SF’s kids. Thanks to everyone who made it out today for our spring celebration of our schools & parent wins!
Nice to see SF Parents (via cofounder Meredith Dodson) on the list of mighty SF solutions-bringers and influencers! This honor is for you, parent advocates!

The staff of the Standard spent months figuring out who runs this place and whittled it down to 100.

Thanks to @sfparents.bsky.social board chair and SF public school mom Jennie Herriot-Hatfield for this important piece. Lazy haters of our public schools get them nowhere. Critique where it’s due, sure, but do your HW first.
We have so much to be proud of about our local schools.
Exactly. There’s always room for improvement. But it’s not the dumpster fire some typical haters like to assume it is. That was just the school board of 2020.😆
21.04.2025 13:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Good read. It's infuriating to listen to the insulting rhetoric about the schools. There are problems and those who stay aren't saying there aren't. However the answer isn't to throw one's hands up and insult the system without ever walking through the doors.

Time for SF to see some student gains in math. Thank you parents for your tireless advocacy the past 2 years🙏
So irresponsible of you.

(I do wish @sfstandard.com had asked an SFUSD parent to write about it rather than an uninformed, childless intern from a white-flight Chicago suburb…)
In more positive news, here’s a really excellent piece by a former SFUSD parent that both clearly lays out the recent turmoil at my alma mater public school district AND also makes a strong case for why parents should not abandon #SFUSD. From @mayak46.bsky.social 🌁 📚 beyondchron.org/why-parents-...
