After Dark®️ Flying Toasters™️ neck tie draped over the back of a wooden kitchen chair.
I have no idea where my husband originally got this After Dark®️ Flying Toasters™️ tie, but it continues to be my favorite.
We are nerds of a certain age, etc.

A rudbeckia plant with one primary flower open. It has a brown center with a ring of orangey-red, then yellow petals, almost like a bullseye.
Rudbeckia h. 'Chocolate Orange' #1 was a late addition to the garden this year and it's lovely! 🌱

We have escalated and are waiting to hear back, but who knows when that will happen. In the meantime, the canal has to be cleaned out so that the water has somewhere to go besides my backyard. And I hate it.
The end.

Roads and Drainage is saying there has to be an environmental review because it dumps into a "wetland," but there is a small strip of Kudzu and Wisteria (plus one very large maple tree) and then apartments.

I am once again engaged in the Sisyphean task of cleaning out Dekalb County's drainage canal that runs through my back yard. (This thing was built ~60 years ago and constantly fills up with silt/dirt, flooding my back yard and sometimes basement. It's a fucking nightmare.)

A 4 foot tall sunflower growing beside a parking lot. It has large green leaves, a thick stem, and a dinner plate sized head with bright yellow petals. Location: Milford, Ohio.
Good afternoon, sunshine. 🌻🌱

You're correct, the links do work. That was not at all obvious since they appear to be cut off. Great news!

@maggie-lee.bsky.social how come these GaPolBot updates are always truncated? They don't even contain a full link where I can read more. IMO, that makes it a much less useful service.

An Empress Wu hosta has been thoroughly chomped. Many stalks poke out of the ground, but only 4 or 5 leaves remain. They also got my rudbeckia.
Noooo, my hostas! Fucking deer!!! 🌱

Up close photo of a 'blueberry muffin' hosta. It has bluish green waxy leaves, and two scapes with bell shaped lavender flowers. An out of focus green camellia bush is in the background, along with a gutter downspout.
Hosta season is the best season. This one is called 'blueberry muffin' and it has 3 scapes up now (only two visible here). 🌱

Two irises in front of a red brick house with blue shutters. The iris in front is shorter, with butter yellow tones and purple frilly edges. The iris behind is taller and a bit out of focus. It has deep purple falls and a white top, on green stems. They're growing from a bed covered in pine straw.
Top down iris view. The center and top part of the flower are white, and it has deep royal purple falls. Where the purple petals meet the center of the flower, there is a zebra-like pattern of purple and white stripes. This one is called 'Local ocean'.

It's my first season with Irises and I'm pleasantly surprised to see blooms. I'm looking forward to these forming clusters and filling in a bit, for more visual impact. 🌱

Honeycomb tall bearded iris from Schreiner's. Green shoots are emerging from a bed of pine straw. At the top of one shoot is a large, floofy, butter yellow and white iris flower. In the background there is a red brick house wall.
My first iris of the season has emerged. (In fact, it's my first season with any irises.) This one is called Honeycomb. 🌱

Approximately 5 foot tall camellia bush in front of a red brick house at dusk. The camellia has dark green leaves and both pink and reddish flowers on it.
Two distinctly different camellia flowers on the same bush. One is a solid deep pink that is almost red, and the other is light pink with dark pink variegation. Flowers are framed by dark green foliage.
🌱 Front yard camellia party. This one typically blooms in Feb/March and has two distinctly different types of flowers. (Unsure if this is an anomaly or a specific cultivar with that characteristic. Theories welcome!)
