we could have more women creators to celebrate if we had less figures like Neil Gaiman

DC's Pride offerings have been great. They have, and have had amazing gender diverse characters and creators throughout publishing history, even trailblazing at times. They could have run this character's design, powers and actions by anyone. Writer, artist and editor all screwed up here.

DC didn't need to do this. DC has Galaxy, Dreamer and Alysia Yeoh.

A completely original character from a YA GN, an ancestor of a Legion character from a live action TV show, and Barbara Gordon's roommate.

The stuff with Klarion is particularly so sad and awful.

Well, today was Anime North Hotel Bookings day. I think I have a room and my friends have a room but I'm still terrified there will be some huge error and I won't have a room because I don't trust the hotel companies' relationships with the convention...

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

the discourse on what jobs are acceptable to replace with generative AI reveals a lot about what we think of other people's jobs

Why the War on Trans Girls Is a War on Girlhood Excluding trans girls is controlling who can be girls, and who can't, further dividing children and causing harm

Written by the father of a trans girl…

β€œWhen society tries to police and exclude trans girls, it ends up policing all girls.

Because transmisogyny does not just say, β€œTrans girls aren’t real girls.” It also says, β€œThere is only one correct way to be a girl.””

I realize I missed the gijinka of 02 from Kirby. I guess that's also not femme. It does feel vaguely trans coded though. I wish I had thought of a way to cover my face. I was otherwise pretty happy with that one despite it being kinda haphazard

All for this book that has far fewer pictures than my usual. It's a document of a trans zine from the 90s.

It makes me want to be more in the book world somehow. I still don't think I love novel reading but this all feels so right, and all connected to books.

I feel happy just being here. The same kind of happy I felt when Page and Panel was still in operation. I saw some university students I apparently inspired, I recognize faces from the city. This is just really generally great.

I'm at a book launch for "Gender Trash from Hell" and Kai Cheng Thom is here which feels like being meters away from Canadian trans royalty. I have been to the trans match so I know this is hyperbole, but it feels like every trans person in Toronto is here.

Fedora man unmasked: Meet the teen behind the Louvre mystery photo Fifteen-year-old Pedro Elias Garzon Delvaux has become an internet sensation after an Associated Press photo captured him outside the Louvre on the day of a crown jewels heist.

Loving today's news that the mysterious "fedora man" outside the Louvre heist was actually a 15-year-old museum visitor who dresses like a 1940s French detective all the time, just because. apnews.com/article/louv...

I'm thinking of the history of my cosplay and it went

Gunner (Disgaea), Bug Catcher, Pokemon Trainer covered in Weedle, E102 Gamma (Sonic), Thalim (Shaman King), Aqualad (Young Justice), Stevonnie, Garnet (SU), Inkling, BOTW Link as a Pokemon Trainer. I'd like to actually do a femme cosplay...

100,000 People Marched at London Trans+ Pride. The Transphobic UK Media Ignored It. The UK’s biggest news outlets ignored a record-breaking march for trans equality, despite publishing dozens of trans stories each week.

πŸ³β€βš§ 100,000 people marched at London Trans+ Pride yesterday - but the BBC, Times, Telegraph & Daily Mail ignored it completely.

These outlets publish dozens of anti-trans stories a week. But when trans people show joy, pride, and solidarity?

πŸ¦— Silence.

I *loved* Superman, and I'm not sure I could say the same thing about the films that have been lauded as higher quality.

13.07.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I was invested in the human cast, the metahuman cast, the dogs and squirrels and robots and the Kaiju. The cameos felt natural and fun. It was a world that felt hopeful but possible. Full of conflict and not void of death and consequences and pain, but still bright and very optimistic.

13.07.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I went into the film for the Justice Gang and world building but I ended up loving the main characters. This is a Superman who would say "You mean Santa wrapped them" earnestly. This is a Lex who is smart enough to realize his flaws but arrogant enough to dismiss those realizations.

13.07.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

A friend said that he liked it, wouldn't want to see it again, but would see the next one. I would not only see this movie again but am surprised to say I would see another two films that are just Clark vs Lex.

13.07.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It didn't feel quippy despite so many constant laughs and smiles based on little things characters said. Superman didn't save everyone but gosh darn he tried. Hawkgirl wasn't Superman. Guy was Guy. Terrific was... ya know. Rex was squiggly that one time.

13.07.2025 12:47 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't think Superman by James Gunn was the best live-action superhero focused film ever made, but I think it was probably my favourite and I feel there are strong arguments for it being the best "superhero film."

I was constantly laughing and smiling. It felt like a living trade paperback.
