When building comps, it can be easy to think that you need a specific role when you really need a specific weapon. Worse, it can be easy to think that your weapon will only play a certain role when really you need to make your weapon adapt to what your team needs at any given time.

These can be helpful but remember that the categories are arbitrary and only serve to help explain, GENERALLY, what each weapon wants to do. We could take away categories until we get "frontline" and "backline" weapons or add more until we get so precise that some weapons are in their own tiers.

they can pick whatever starting point is they want, I just said 210p because that is the highest currently in the game.

I also doubt anything will need to be more than 220p, there are some other issues with the weapon/special if it requires that much

Example:
Running 4 subs scu on a 190p weapon right now gives you a 172p special. With this change the weapon already has an inherent 12ap to bring 210 to 190, so the next 4 subs only bring it down to 180p

scu nerf proposal:
Every special on every weapon starts at 210p, then each weapon gets an inherent amount of charge up ap assigned without any gear to bring it down. This makes it harder to have unreasonably low points for special and easier to stack a little bit to bring down expensive specials.

really enjoying the series weapon power system. i like how its per weapon so you can be casual on one weapon and competitive on another. the only thing i miss is the casual mode for your main weapons since open matches you against teams and series is now as sweaty as x battle
