The breakdown in Sleep Theory’s III from the new album Afterglow, is sooooooo good.

Honestly the whole album is just LOVE 💜

All of us have value that is not defined by our physical appearance. Self-esteem is about the self, and only we control it. While it’s easier said than done, these unfair norms and expectations do not have to affect how we feel about ourselves. These things can be unlearned.

While taking care of yourself and keeping your body healthy is essential, that looks different for everyone. There is no perfect body, size, or real need to look a certain way to be attractive. Society also teaches us that attractiveness is what gives us value, but that’s a falsehood

Unfortunately, mass media and social media tend to spread unrealistic beauty standards widely, causing many to feel inadequate.

When people feel that their appearance does not meet cultural and societal norms, they can experience body dissatisfaction, negatively impacting self-esteem.

Research (and just lived experience, honestly) has shown that cultural and societal norms directly affect body image, which can affect feelings of self-worth and esteem.
