Dominionism treat movements for queer rights, reproductive freedom, racial justice as spiritual rebellions that must be stamped out. The goal isn’t to reverse policy gains. But to restore a divine social order where power flows from the top down, sanctioned by Scripture and immune to dissent.

Project 2025’s use of language like “Almighty God” intentionally mirrors the Confederate Constitution, which invoked divine authority to justify white supremacy, slavery, and patriarchal rule.

According to this belief system, Christ will not return until these domains are reclaimed and governed by God’s authority. The mandate blends end-times theology with political strategy, recasting civic engagement as spiritual warfare.

If you haven’t heard of the seven mountain mandate, let me introduce you to the nightmare we’re currently living in.

7MM teaches that Christians are tasked with taking control of seven key spheres of society: government, education, media, arts and entertainment, business, family, and religion.

In May 2024, Religion in Public highlighted new PRRI polling data showing an uptick in agreement with core tenets of the Seven Mountain Mandate.

A growing number of Americans now say they believe Christians are called to exercise dominion over every aspect of society and that the government should declare the United States a Christian nation.

Efforts to eliminate DEI programs, limit public education, criminalize reproductive and gender-affirming care, and expand religious exemptions across agencies are all consistent with 7MM priorities. These policy goals are not just ideological, they are framed as spiritual victories.

When public schools, health care systems, and family law become vehicles for theological enforcement, the separation of church and state is not just weakened. It is redefined.

The ideological foundations of Project 2025 are reinforced by theology that runs deep in Pentecostal networks.

Within prosperity theology, material success is framed not as happenstance or hard work alone, but as visible confirmation of spiritual favor.
Influence and gain is a marker of obedience.

The religious right love bribes.
Financial luck is viewed as a direct thumbs-up from God.

Accusations of self-dealing or exploitation are be reframed as attacks on the faithful. This removes all accountability for political buying and selling.

One of the most consequential shifts embedded in Project 2025 is the replacement of rights-based social programs with faith-based service models that prioritize religious conformity over individual agency.

The future of HHS funding is bleak. Individuals may be required to attend religious services, accept faith-based counseling, or adhere to behavioral codes in order to receive basic support.

Do not assume that govt social services will be delivered free from proselytization or coercion.

Our spiral into a Christian nationalist theocracy is not a neutral reimagining of government.

Vance Boelter likely did not see himself as a murderer. He saw himself as a spiritual warrior carrying out a divine assignment.

This is central to a theology that casts cultural opposition as rebellion against God, where political enemies are treated as enemies of heaven.

Vance Boelter wrote a book claiming he had rediscovered a lost spiritual state that gave him access to divine truth without mediation.

Like many within NAR, he believed he received the word of God in real time, without error or need for validation.

Boelter founded Revoformation Ministries and created a theology he called “Original Ability.” In his writings, he described it not as interpretation but as a return to the direct, God-given capacity that humanity possessed before the fall of Adam.

Christian nationalism thrives by offering spiritual certainty to people living in instability.

It recruits men who feel powerless and tells them they are warriors.

This messaging has taken root in those who are now lining up to act as border agents, ICE officers, and school board candidates.

Minnesota will likely not be the last attack of its kind.
