I made this some poor nerds hyperfocus last weekend, and I regret nothing.

Anybody else, I’d be concerned. But John Carpenter is a man who walked away from filmmaking when it wasn’t fun or interesting to him anymore. He’s got all the money he could ever need, and no reason to come back unless he’s got a good idea.
He’s earned a bit of faith.

Tell me about it. I just spent two weeks trying to figure out how to get a simple high score screen working. Now that I’ve done it once, I grasp all the principles, but it is shocking just how tricky it is to get both a name and highest score to accurately appear, and how many ways it can go wrong.

Mad Max expectations: Australia becomes a blasted hellscape when we run out of oil.

Reality: Australia shrugs, tells the rest of the world they hadn’t noticed, and asks if they need to borrow some ‘leccy.

He’s managed to do with his universe, which should’ve been done years ago; something different. The universe of both this and the alien films is a rich and fascinating one that we barely get to see you because people are so intent on re-creating the first movie in the franchise with different paint.

She just kinda throws it out whenever people ask her why she’s doing things.
Basically, she meets the villain, he’s hot (and possibly manipulating her mentally) and she goes full tradwife for him.

Oh! Sorry, I thought it was a parody of Ben Garrison.

I don’t think HE did it so much as it was done in his style.

I feel like the same thing happened with the underrated ‘Sinister 2’.
It’s like Cargill makes one that he knows will feel connected to the real world and will be relatively cheap to shoot, and then he just S P R I N T S if it s a big enough success that he can do a sequel.
Love it.

Yeah, the inter connectivity between Apple devices is awesome. Great for when you want to use the pad as a mini-laptop.

Although, I will say this… He’s got to be aware himself, and the fact that he isn’t backing down is just another reason to vote for him.

Putting aside the “all art is political” thing, it’s good that they clarified and took steps to try and compromise.

Seriously, the issue is amazing. It’s not only give you the satisfaction of watching these fuckers get folded like wet paper towels, it actually has the humanity to stop and say ‘yeah, sometimes it IS a bit too much, and that’s not very Batman’.

What’s weird is that it shares a major factor with my least favorite ‘Friday’ film, ‘Part V’.
The major difference is that rather than just bringing in a copycat because the old fella can’t do his thing anymore, this is a whole new character rather than a substitution and a ‘gotcha’ moment.

It’s a perfect follow through set up by two other excellent series entries that first give us what we wanted… then make us question it… then tell us what we SHOULD be taking away from all of this.
Brilliant filmmaking down the line, and extremely well thought out.

Lang doesn’t get enough love and attention as an actor.
Somehow he manages to convey all the complicated feelings a man like that would have seeing his own demise.
Anger and a desire for revenge. Self disgust for having failed. A hint of existential dread, knowing ‘he’ is not himself…

Fair. I have not researched it, but I have a theory that when something was just “a paycheck“ he tended to treat it like that, and it shows.
When he was enthusiastic about a movie? You got a classic. When he wasn’t… Yeah, that one thing about black mold.

I like the directing and acting in Christine better, but I like The Car better as a film, if that makes sense.
The idea of a demon taking the shape of a vehicle and simply attacking relentlessly is kind of fascinating in its simplicity.

What makes this a real winner, for me, is the choice of Kinderman as the protagonist.
Everybody believes a Priest has a fighting chance against something like this. But a veteran cop? Against something that feeds on human ugliness?
It’s an uphill struggle.

Agreed. At least Halloween was smart enough to make the most recent set of films ACTIVELY about how it wasn’t all about her.

I suspect it’s an issue with the data gathering process.
Asking a teenager “do you like it when people have sex in movies is going to draw a low amount of positive responses because we live in an era where A.) porn exists, and B.) it discounts all the factors that make sex in movies exciting.
