Polygraph testing of federal employees is picking up again, and it’s starting to look pretty sketchy. At the FBI, the focus has shifted. These tests aren’t just about clearances or access to sensitive info anymore.

This statement grossly undervalues the sacrifice many people and families will have to make to stay afloat. There is no money to scrimp.

The Senate just passed a bill that rips health care away from hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, puts our rural hospitals in danger, leaves people hungrier, and rolls back progress on our clean energy economy that will cost us thousands of good paying jobs.

Reports and video show flash-bangs thrown into piles of debris just before a car caught fire, strongly suggesting it was law enforcement, not protesters, who sparked it. More details are coming. Don’t let them control the narrative. Thank you to everyone sharing footage, always record everything.

Meta found a new way to violate your privacy. Here’s what you can do. Even hardened digital privacy veterans said they were surprised by Meta’s scuzzy tactics.

Researchers recently caught Meta using tactics that one expert called similar to those of digital crooks to secretly compile logs of people’s web browsing on Android devices.

Here are a few ways to safeguard your digital privacy:

What?!?! The EPA has drafted a plan to eliminate all pollution controls from coal and gas-fired power plants. The agency claims these plants β€œdo not contribute significantly” to dangerous pollution or climate change, arguing their emissions are a small and declining share of global totals.

Phang: It’s time for federal judges to acknowledge that they have lifetime appointmentsβ€”and that should give them the courage to uphold the rule of law, but also to put some damn teeth into the court orders they’re issuing.

One good place to start is by understanding why housing is so expensive to begin with.

Public Comment Toolkit
The Trump Administration issued a new policy that would make it easy to
fire hundreds of thousands of federal employees and replace them with political loyalists. This would make it easier to weaken our national security and
dismantle the medical and Social Security benefits, clean water and safety
regulations that took America out of the 1800s. We can stop them.
Use this guide to submit a comment by May 23
How: Trump’s Office of Personnel Management is required to solicit public comments
before the policy takes effect. OPM must review the public comments and respond to significant
comments
2. If OPM does not follow these steps, federal courts can stop the policy. Commenting
is your opportunity to make your voice heard and fight against this dangerous policy before it
harms millions of Americans.
Comments helped fight previous policies and can do so again: For example, Health and
Human Services proposed reducing certain Medicare reimbursements for health care
providers. Commenters pointed out errors with the studies cited by HHS. A court struck down
the HHS rule because of the issues pointed out by comments.
3. What the policy does
Removes civil-service protections from a
new category of federal employees called
Schedule Policy/Career.
P/C employees become at-will workers.
They lose their right to challenge
terminations or appeal reclassification to the
Merit Systems Protection Board.
Allows agencies to identify and recommend
"policy-influencing" roles into Schedule P/C.
Gives the President sole authority to
reclassify federal employees as P/C and
removes their ability to challenge
reclassification. Why it matters. Makes mass firings between administrations
more likely, which weakens government
expertise and efficiency.
Politicizing government functions weakens
continuity and the delivery of public services.
The policy will remove safeguards for those
refusing to break the law in favor of partisan
outcomes.
