Actually, I think it’s a very possible scenario: once the Russian economy begins to crumble and Russia loses the war, there are too many Russian private military companies that aren’t controlled by Putin, they will fight for power and try to seize whatever’s left.

Ukraine has made mistakes before in withdrawing from lost positions too late, but there have also been examples of Ukraine staying in areas despite commentators calling for a retreat, and it turning out to be the right decision. These decisions are hard to get right.
