I can hear Uncle Sam turning over in his grave from here.

The actual "Uncle" Sam Wilson is buried just up the road.

Hey @aoc.bsky.social, could you look into why the copy of the Constitution on Congress's website no longer includes half of Article I Section 8 or any of Sections 9 and 10? There's some vaguely important stuff in there.

Yeah, the "kind of back" concerns me. Besides, at this point I'm so ingrained in Apple's vertical integration ecosystem, I kind of don't want to switch off it now. Yeah, I could have a cheaper watch, but the way it works with all of my other Apple stuff is just so seamless.

I was an Android user for years, and had several generations of Android watches. I got so fed up with just how bad they were and the lack of improvements in them, as compared to just how well my wife's Apple Watch went, I ended up switching to iPhone. I'm still mad at Fitbit for killing Pebble.

At my yearly physical this morning, my physician said she ordered a test of my measles immunity with my labs. She said if it comes back negative, I should get a booster in light of the outbreaks. She said it’s not something she’s ever had to recommend to patients before.

I now shoot (stills) on a Nikon Zfc. State of the art, high end consumer digital camera, but it _looks_ like it’s from the 1970s. Literally every event I’ve brought it to since I got it around 8 months ago, I’ve had someone ask me if I’m shooting film.

Many delegates, including Alexander Hamilton, fretted that "one of the weak sides of republics" was their susceptibility "to foreign corruption"; leaders elevated to "stations of great preeminence and power" by the people, Hamilton wrote, may be tempted to abandon their
"obligations of duty," lured by "compensations" from other nations seeking influence. In other words, federal officials could be so entranced by the wealth of foreign leaders, especially monarchs, that they might sell out their own country in exchange for a share of the riches dangled before them. The delegates sought to guard against this existential threat to republican "virtue" by adopting the foreign emoluments clause-unanimously, and without debate.

It is bracing to reread the Framers’ bone-deep fears about foreign corruption of the presidency and realize Trump is exactly what they were trying to prevent. slate.com/news-and-pol...

I was at my vet's office a couple weeks ago, chatting with the doctor, and right in the middle of a sentence my subconscious realized that their background music was playing a string quartet version of Radiohead's Creep, and my brain just froze up and was like... wait what?

An Update on the State of the Model Train Industry

This is highly concerning to me. Model railroading is a pretty big part of my life, and I really do fear that I could lose that if something isn't done. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH_e...

The number should have been one, but since we've already passed that mark, it's clear that there is no limit.

Definitely was not expecting a string quartet version of Radiohead’s Creep playing in the background at the vet’s office.

To everyone who told me to β€œcalm down” in 2016 -

The sociopathic sexual predator business fraud felon you put back in the office he tried to steal just stood in the White House & said that he wants to send American citizens to concentration camps in El Salvador.

So, fuck you.

Also, a lot of the manufacturers now work on a business model of announcing something and opening preorder sales, then only making a small percentage more than were ordered. I have multiple locomotives that have been on order for over a year that now could potentially cost me hundreds of $ more.

Hobbyists are constantly calling for more and more highly detailed and realistic models, which has driven prices up dramatically in the last decade. And the companies that make these models work on pretty tight margins with minimal staff. I just don't see how they survive prices DOUBLING.

So I know I'm talking about the smallest of niches, but the model railroad industry is near and dear to my heart. Almost 100% of the products on the market today are made in China. Factories to make the highly detailed models DO NOT EXIST ELSEWHERE, nor does the labor force trained to staff them.
