Alternatively, we're being sent out on these islands to try and find places the mainland could expand to, discovering new habitable islands that people could inhabit. It would explain why the human is the one picked from the group to be the representative. Thank you for coming to my 7 am rambling.

And thus, I raise my theory. The animals are sending us out onto these islands to thin out our numbers on the mainland, as we're putting strain on the resources and overwhelming cities and infrastructure.

Which means humans are not only NOT going extinct, but are overwhelming the Animal Crossing world. Assuming each species has around 200 thousand members, that means humans have over 22,400% increase to the animals population.

Since each player of the game could visit each other, it implies they all live in the same world. If you consider a single copy of the game sold as one person in the animal crossing world, ignoring the potential of multiple people using the same copy, you'd get roughly 45 Million people.

In Animal Crossing New Horizons, there are 36 different species, including humans.
Divide that by the amount of people in the world (roughly 8 billion) and you get 228,571,428, so I assume that's the average population of any given species. Assuming the population is mirrored from the real world.

I recently saw a post implying that humans in the Animal Crossing world are going extinct, and that's why the villagers are so nice to you. I refute this. Here's my reasoning.
