It's still been a political hot-topic. Any leader worth their salt would look into something that's driving public discourse.

It's not unnecessary. Kids shouldn't have screens to be looking at all the time. Also, regardless of how impressive your abilities at activating parental controls are, you can't prevent stupid parents not using theirs and exposing your kids to them.

It's about about creating a culture to change it.

Or just get them a smartphone when they're of age to use those things.

I agree, as a fellow teacher. I just think there will always be a significant amount of irresponsible parents that poison the well. Sometimes the well needs to have its access denied.

Yet you want it to be able to spy on your kid. You don't promote physical social activity by planting a tracker on them.

Yeah but they haven't and continue not to. Kids could also do with a break from being helicoptered surrounding their every movement. We're supposed to encourage them to be kids again and socialise without their every movement being tracked.

They're too young for social media. That's the core issue.

Yeah, the issue, as pointed put out in the show, is that parents can't police their kids 24/7, and the culture of social media for kids is institutionalised. You can't police other parents being responsible even if you are. There's also the issue of people having to work ungodly hours.

We've tried education for a very long time, and the problem is just getting worse. Studies show that social media is an overall negative influence in general, and tenfold for young developing minds.

So, what you're saying is, it's possible for kids to have phones just for contacting parents for emergencies.
