River Monster

The bust of a demonic fox with wildly exaggerated features and black eyes, although the third eye on its forehead has a glowing, red iris with broad, dilated pupil. A small foxfire is suspended over it, vaguely reflected in the void of the pupil. It has a broadly grinning mouth with too many sharp teeth and two, lolling tongues. A glowing, round jewel is suspended between them. Three other small foxfire flames surround it, adorning a mysterious, swirling texture behind the fox's head.

I may have walked away from the community with only one or two friends I still stay in regular contact with, but I am glad I can look back now and feel something positive and grateful for rather than solely remember the negative.

I eventually want to revisit the story I made. Some part of me wants to give it one last go as a send-off so it feels finalised. Maybe I can do that, but I wouldn't really know where to begin with a proper dedication.

Every one of them influenced the story I wanted to tell in a positive way and I genuinely had so much fun collaborating with them. I appreciated every moment and I kind of wish I said that more at the time. It was one of the things I looked forward to on a weekly basis.

The positive experiences I had and the friends I made and laughed with far outweigh all the negative experiences I ended up having. There was a time where I did some writing with a small group of friends, and I was looking back at the entries and smiling the entire time.

I reminisced a bit about FFXIV today for the first time in... what, three years? It's been a while.

I know I likely didn't say it at the time - 24/25 was a really rough period in my life dealing with a job that was mentally destroying me and back to back deaths in the family - but I'll say it now.

I hope you have people who are able to communicate with you better and are overall healthier about a well-intended action, and if not now, I hope you do find those people. Your gifts are very sweet, and I still have every little sketch you’ve sent me; I’m sorry if I never voiced my gratitude enough.

I’ve learned to ask before giving gifts so I have that extra reassurance. I’ve run into the same issues where gifts have been not so well-received and zero communication on why that might have been. I can understand people might have issues with it, but it doesn’t help when this isn’t communicated…

Begging creatives to not be inconsistent about character skin colour. If the character is dark-skinned, make them dark-skinned. Don’t be wishy-washy about it.

Your livelihood should always come first! There will always be ways to support you no matter what.

Sinners is one of those films where the cinematic experience will forever be burned into my memory. My partner and I went and saw it on a whim where I was delightfully blindsided by the same trivia. The red eye glow truly made the character terrifying and captivating - it was such a good art choice!

With the awful news from the last couple hours, this post from the political optimism subreddit helped to break through a bit of the despair fog. Repubs know this is political suicide, ICE's support is crumbling despite the budget increase, and there's a myriad of ways to fight back. Keep strong.
