Letting an amateur conduct Mahler for money isn't the same thing at all. I get where you're coming from, and if I squint real hard I can see this as a sort of fundraising strategy, but it's just straight up disrespectful to the professionals that make the music and to the music itself

The harm is to the reputation of the institution, both the orchestra itself and the entire concept of an orchestra. What else can they trivialize for the right price? Not to mention the harm to the music itself, or the musicians, or the audience...

But I don't think we're screwed! There will always be demand for human connection that AI simply can't replace
