my mother regretfully informed me today that my father has fallen down some strange rabbit holes on youtube and has recently become a fan of Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst

I opened X and there was a negative post about Blake Lively’s sexual harassment case at the top of my suggested posts feed. I clicked on the account and it has no profile image, 8 followers, and 24 posts since 2020–including 6 Ray-Ban scam ads. These disinfo campaigns are so blatant, yet they work.

it's especially frustrating when I've made it very clear that the only reason I'm criticizing him is because I think he has the capacity for growth and I think his audience should encourage him to display that. the thing he's being protected from in this instance is literally just learning

this is itself a lesson in how a man's misogyny gets enabled by those invested in his success. many of the people trying to shield hasan from criticism aren't doing it because they think the criticism is invalid. they know he fucked up, they just don't want him to suffer any consequences for it.

this video is currently sitting at a 68.6% like-to-dislike ratio even though there are zero comments actually challenging anything I've said. it's like a batch of Hasan's fans know I'm too correct to argue with but they're still upset that I had the audacity to say any of it in the first place

the way I get out of chores is by telling myself "well I couldn't possibly do that on an empty stomach" then I lay on the couch for 2 hours instead of getting food, then once I actually eat, I go, "well now I'm full and need to digest" and then eventually it's 9pm and who cares at that point.

People acting like pop culture is beneath serious discussion is frustrating to me personally (I love it) and also wrong (it’s one of the most common things to care about, which is why it is shorthand for “popular” culture) and also politically disastrous (politics IS downstream of pop culture)

i like hasan, but i wish he’d just own up to his horrible coverage of this case. he knows both sidesing is bad but can’t apply that to a man abusing his wife for years and dragging her back to court when she finally escaped to force her recount the trauma he caused while the entire world berated her
